The pins for the reverse amd countershaft still have a little to go, but I just want to make sure the lock plate will fit before I hammer them down the rest of the way.

As for the bearing it's been a while since I did it but I'll remove the snap ring and it should slide into the TC the rest of the way. Every thing is in as far as it'll go but ill double check to be safe

I should add, it's my first time rebuilding both of these gear boxes so I'm trying not to rush it. I'd rather do it right amd take my time

My battery finally went out on me today, it's been coming, but it got me at work, I went to leave and the temp was about 32 degrees at 6 in the morning, and she was not wanting to even turn over. A friend tried to help me jump but it still wasn't enough juice go motivate the battery, especially at the current temperature. I think while this happened I flooded the engine out. We got a new battery, and started cranking right good but was hitting and mssing some, white smoke. We pulled a couple plugs and sure enough, soaking wet, steel of gas, so we dry it off, crank the engine over to blow out some of the accumulated fuel. Put the plugs in and she started right up and got me home no issue. No issue starting later today either. Wasn't planning on my morning being that way but it was a good learning moment for me, trouble shooting with only a handful of tools.

Edit in.

I always forget too, that my jeep actually starts really well in the cold, at least down to about 10 degrees is the coldest I remembered starting it in, but it doesn't need a whole lot of fuel or choke in cold temps. I forget and then that's how I get into the situation I got into today.

Got my tree yesterday, and had it not been as muddy I would have taken the truck but it certainly made a good pictureLOL

Nice!  Looks like a big one!  Heard there’s a Christmas tree shortage this year? Anyone else hear that?

I hadn't heard that. And this one is the biggest one I think we've had, close to ten feet.

Not a big update but I got the radiator felt on today. Probably be helpful but I might not notice until it gets warmer.

Snow Day! My wife, son and me took a little cruise around the block. I then went out for some pictures, and I might go out for more. First good snow we have had in a while and my flanges did the trick. Last time I was in four wheel drive where it was actually needed was 2 years ago in the snow we had, and those hubs froze in the disengaged position.

Got a new peice of literature and found this chart towards the back. I don't recall seeing it before so it's pretty neat!

Went to work on my d18 today, unfortunately progress has been slow and now it's even slower. The threads on my output shaft are pretty much buggered up beyond recovery, so I'll have to source a new one...

Anyone have the parts numbers for quality d18 bearings. I'd prefer timkens but Japanese bearing would be fine too. Last one I got from quarter ton was a Chinese made bearing and I don't want to run that in the case, I just don't have faith in it

I would check with Sal Walker at Vintage Jeeper, he probably has what you want.

I have a few old transfer cases lying around, so may have a good output shaft, if you want a used one.

Paul,

I looked through my junk yesterday, but did not find a transfer case with a usable output shaft. Sorry.

It's all right Andy, thanks for looking!
And I believe it's the rear, been apart so long I almost forget...

Yep, that’s the rear, alright. I’d bet I have an extra. I’ll have to look.
