GROUP 33-01
part no. A-1240 - JACK, screw type

Can't say this was originally from a Willys, but it's the correct jack.

Here's another yard sale find... Bought with a pair of hardly used 2A rims and snow tires.
I am assuming these were leftovers from a 2A they used to own.

Whoa, very nice!

The guys on the G would like to see that.  Has the round cup as shown in Willys engineering drawings, oval toggle, OD color & original decal!

Pics are long gone so here they are again...

We start with the SPUN STEEL waterslide decal on original paint of a WWII or early CJ2A jack. Whether this color was offered on all the jacks provided for the 2A production I have no proof. This jack was bought from an estate sale where there were also a pair of mostly unused 2A rims with knobby tires on them, in near new condition. No sign of any WWII jeep stuff, although there was a pair of Weed chains with original bags there too.

Jack on its side shows the incorrect square base...

Here's another view of the bottoms of several jacks, the one in the middle is the holy grail..

Here's the working end where you turn the screw with the lug wrench...or flat bar in the case of the wrong jack on the left...

A better view of the up / down levers and the cup on top of the jacks, again the center jack is correct.

And of course, the gratuitous shot of the whole collection where it belongs on top of the china cabinet.

We now know that the CJ2A Jacks were OD like Bills.

The green in Sean's post is 1960 or later, the hole in the corner was added in 1966 for Jeepster.

Yes, that 'discussion' on the G503 is what led to the review of existing documents that included the original Engineering drawing of the A-1240 Jack, and the history of Spun Steel Co. in Canton Ohio

went out to the willys barn to look at the jack that I have. it is a blue-green color, no decal. look like the middle jack. don't see any marks on it.
