Progress report - Wheels have been painted. They are a little thin in some places and will get another coat. Grill, fenders, and tailgate are primed and ready to paint. My body man took some decent paint samples that were remaining on the inside of one of the wheels (autumn yellow) and on the inside of a grill (pasture green) to his paint shop. 3 hours later, a suitable match was obtained for both! Windshield piece from Classic Enterprises fit in windshield frame perfectly. I have included a picture of the paint formulations below.

The top code is for the wheels. Bottom code is for the body.

Jerry did some painting over the past few days. I am pleased with the color and he is too.

The pictures are a little dark - my apologies on that.

Seat frames have been powder coated. I have installed new foam and covers on them. New tires are mounted on rims. So, I installed them on the chassis this evening. I wanted to see what the seats looked like in the tub.

I finally got around to installing the tub. I was concerned that some of the mounting holes would not line up, but for the most part they lined up pretty well. Tub is now bolted down and secure. Firewall grommets have been installed, as well as the E brake. I am now in the process of installing the wiring harness.

This project is coming along nicely!

FYI, The forum does not like vertical pictures from a phone. I you want them to be upright when you post, hold your phone horizontally, with the camera in the top left corner. HTH

JPET-
Thanks for the photo tip. My phone photo taking abilities leave much to be desired - just ask my daughters. I took a few pics this afternoon with the fenders on and the gauges installed. I also wanted to give a shout out to rmogger7 on the wirining harness I bought from him a few years ago. Nice work - it has been easy to install and is well built.

Last week, I installed the fuel tank, fuel line, and seats. Put some fuel in the tank, pulled the choke out, squirted some gasoline in the carb, and it started right up. While I was checking things out, I noticed an oil and fuel leak. So, I shut down and repaired both leaks. My voltage regulator is shot, so I am waiting on a new one. Getting closer.

One step forward and a couple of steps back. I received and installed the new voltage regulator. Jeep still starts-although a harder start than it should be. Idle is ok. I drove it around in the yard in low range and noticed some popping and spitting back through the carburetor. It is running rich. Motor has very little power - it is very hard to start out in first gear in high range. I changed plugs and plug wires. I noticed that #2 and #3 were coated with carbon, whereas #1 and #4 were not. Anyway, I started the motor again and pulled the plug wire on #2 and there was no change in the idle. I pulled #3 and there was no change in the idle. Doing the same on #1 and #4 would kill the motor. It appears to me that #2 and #3 are not firing and I have a 2 cylinder motor. So, I am going to get out my compression gauge and see what the readings are for all 4 cylinders. Generator failed also - so I removed it and will be getting it rebuilt next week. I am thinking a head gasket problem or a valve problem at this point.

Update-My generator had a bad armature. Armature was replaced. New voltage regulator installed from Walcks. My old Autolite armature had a bad resistor and that did not help out my old generator. Obviously this didn't solve the lack of power and hard starting. I had a fellow shade tree mechanic come over. We checked compression on all cylinders and it was adequate at 65+ psi on all. Had spark as well. Hmmm - must be timing. I mentioned to him that I thought there was a chance that I installed the flywheel 180 degrees off when I put the motor back together. We switched around the plug wires to fire in the 4-2-1-3 order instead of the normal 1-3-4-2 order. It started up immediately and idled pretty well. Motor was running really rich as evidenced by black smoke out of exhaust. I pulled the top off the carburetor and measured the distance of the float from the base at 3/8" as it is supposed to be. However, I adjusted the tab on the float to increase the spacing to just under 1/2". When I was putting the top back on the carburetor, I found that the accelerator pump plunger appeared to be in a bind and not moving freely up and down. I really didn't do any more than turn the stem of the plunger around and made sure that it moved freely on the linkage. I started the motor and the rough idle and black smoke were gone. Motor has power and pick up like it never has had before. I'm glad it runs well, but I will need to pay better attention next time I put a L head motor back together to make sure that I get the darned timing sequence correct to eliminate the guesswork.

Over the past month, I basically finished up the project. Rear tail light was installed. Side steps installed. Found a chaff screen. Cleaned it up and put it on the grill. I finished up putting the glass in the inner frame and sliding into the outer windshield - with some tweaking along the way of course. Just wanted to share some pics of the finished rig.

Nice Jeep!  The small dents in the tailgate just add to the character--as if it were needed.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

Thanks for the kind words. It has been a fun project. Took a long time with several long pauses along the way. I'm gonna drive it this spring/summer and maybe start on another project later on.
