Missouri Fall Color Tour ( not to be taken to seriously)I was unable to make it to the CFCT because of work. So after watching & reading about the CFCT it was time to have some fun & get my Jeep off of the paved roads. I know that a few yellow flowers will never compare with the beautiful Aspens.
And the Ant Hill Pass was about as challenging as unloading a Jeep off a trailer.and there where no other Flat Fenders around to take photos. I had to stop & get out to take my own. But the weather was great. My wife got to drive my 2A. She still wants to know what that other shifter is for (overdrive). Got to test out 4 wheel drive ( high & low). Ant Hill Pass is much higher than it looks it's got to be at least 8 or 9 ft. tall.We had fun on the gravel roads & 40 acres at my sister-in-laws farm. I'm ready to step it up, maybe the Kansas Flint Hills next. CFCT is on my bucket list. I am envious of You guys.

Hey, you had fun out there. That's what it is about.

I didn't make it to CFCT either and I live a lot closer.
UMMMM, darn neighbors dogs. But I like them mutts and they think I am the best thing since bacon was invented.
I can just drive about 30 minutes in my Jeep out to the grasslands and sit and have a wonderful time.
Well, my neighbor just sat in my Commando with me one evening in my yard after we got it home.
I suppose just sitting in a Jeep can make you happy.

Nice Jeep by the way.

Nice looking rig.

I have traveled the Kansas Flint Hills extensively though not by jeep. There are a lot of unpaved backroads to explore but the Hills aren't what I would call particularly challenging for a jeep unless you know where to look. Some of the unmaintained roads between Alma and Eskridge if you get off the highway are a fun drive. While you are in the vicinity, take the loop around Lake Wabaunsee and see one of the prettiest lakes in Kansas. Almost any road taken out of Hessdale (wide spot in the road between Alma and Eskridge) would be a nice drive. East takes you to Eskridge; north takes you to the Skyline Drive.

My guide through the Flint Hills (or any other place in Kansas for that matter) has always been a well used copy of DeLorme's "Kansas Atlas & Gazetteer". It does a good job of showing backroads and small, out of the way places.

If you visit Kansas, remember there are lot's of things to see and do in small towns, just no mountains ...
