Friends!
Greetings from India
I had been restorimg this 1948 çj2a which I found in a very bad shape about a year ago. It was complete restoration and now we have the 2a running around. The 2a lies in the correct range of lefty's produced.
The original colour traces we found during the rebuild was blue so went ahead with Normandy blue.
Fine work is still in progress.
Shall post more pictures as we proceed.

Looking good. I wonder if a photo from the rear might show a familiar looking reflector?

Hi Dave
I don't remember seeing an untampered cj2a that wasn't a lefty in India.
Since 2014 when I got my first 2a I have been collecting data on cj2as in India.
Very few cj2a's are within the correct range for leftys where as most of the late 2as also have a lefty setup irrespective of the vin/body number.
My other late 2a (with a 3a like chassis) is also a lefty.
My conclusion with this data is that these could have been the surplus remaining lefty bodies that were sent into commonwealth countries for military use where the lefty setup would be correct for the RHD traffic.
I may be wrong, but I have data on this.
Regards.

dsc,

Nice looking Lefty.

I have seen photos of the French Foreign Legion with Leftys in with their mix of MBs and other Cj2As - more proof of Leftys in  the military use.  We also have seen Leftys in the farm market with Monroe 3 points here in the US.

And there's the update. The lefty back in its old clothes after a fresh coat of paint. Small detailing still pending and will be completed gradually.

I always dreamt of a cj3a in blue. But found the blue on a 2a and my 3a's going the red way.
So now have a blue 1948 and an emerald green 1948/49 çj2a.

That is a beautiful jeep. I am amazed at your patience in running down correct parts. Difficult to do from the other side of the word.
Nice work!!
