thanks...I like that poster and have it.. And I love that jeep..with two tone rims..If I could get mine to look half as good as that one I would be happy.
but I think maybe I will keep it all orange just to stay true to the original..changed my mind ...now that I read the thread and been thinking about it.

Opened up the transmission I think it looks pretty good. should I just drain and change fluids? Hasn’t been driven in over 40 years and stored inside for the last 40 years my grandfather mostly used it to pull the hay wagon “just idled around the field”

Opening up Steering box.. Is what 140 weight oil looks like?.. the nubs are flat in a couple spots and the shaft has some scoring will get a new sector shaft kit.

No, somebody put the wrong lube in it. The grease Zerk sort of tells you that. You can do a search to find out how some people have rotated the pins to get a fresh surface to use. The bushings and seal are another matter.

1st coat of paint on the wheels today

Steering dome clutch brake shaft done sealed and fluid all filled and greased - not why photo is sideways but you get the idea

Been Making Progress... Front Axle .. replaced inner and outer seals and bearings.. sealed all and filled with fluids.. Axle was full of grease but rather see that than rust .(thankful for the grease). everything in pretty great shape..

Progress on new Cross shaft etc. and tightened up the brake pedal with some thick washers.

Steering Progress.. all completed new bearings new tie rods, drag link seals, horn button -ross box steering shaft and bearings new horn wiring and sealed and greased up.. the bell crank was modified to be reversed for more ground clearance..

New seals on the transfer case and a couple new seals on the tranny.
Now main focus is body work on the Tub all other body parts done and primed. |
