The guys in the shop at work purchased a new CNC plasma cutter I sketched up a quick test part in AutoCAD and will transfer to BobCAM The hatched areas will be cut out... The tricky part is keeping the solid part one piece... This will be a first for me and we are still figuring out the machine.... Wish me luck!

You do realize that you will end up with two separate pieces of steel, or whatever the material is, right? I am not an artist, so I have no suggestions about how to "fix" this, if it even matters to you. OH, I forgot the requested, Good Luck!!

Well, first try I would say was a success!! The material was too thin and it was moving around alot, but it worked! It's about 13" x 13" and rusty just like mine Couple little things to adjust and the next one will be better...

Don't we need the negative of that to be able to use it as a spray paint stencil?

Very nice !! Looks like the cutter had a mind of its own, and cut the bumper. That cut does not show in your drawing.
Can you turn the juice down, to etch some lines without burning thru? If so, you could complete some of the lines, and maybe even etch some lugs in the tires. The rusty back side does look better.

X2 Very nice, I like the back side patina best too! I believe the plasma cutter will only cut thru, I think you would need a laser to etch the surface if I am not mistaken. Edited by 3-48s - 21 Feb. 2019 at 2:26pm |

Thank you guys Yes, there was that mistake by the bumper.... It was one of the last cuts and the jeep was flopping around on the table. The cutter head snagged the piece and things went a little wacky.. I need to find a little thicker material. (I was thinking an old stop sign might be cool?)
I could do a negative cut for the stencil, that's a great idea! I'm going to run some more, but I need to do it in my "off" time... I upset some people with the smoke and smell Ooops, so sorry! I never really thought of selling them or anything... If you are one of the kind people who have helped me out in the past (and there are many here) I would just give you one. I have been working with CAD systems for a long time, so if anyone ever needs something drawn up or 3D modeled, maybe I can help..

That is nice! I also like the rusty side. As far as my earlier post, I sit corrected. I am happy to be wrong on this one! I am sure you know your company better than all of us do, but be sure to clear the sales/gifts with the powers that be first. No one want you to get in trouble at work over this.

Thank you all for the kind words! I did not expect such positive feedback I can not commit to anything at this time, but if I do make a run of them, you guys will be the first to know.. Researching and finding material is my first step to determining cost feasibility.
Thanks again, GG
