Thought you all would like to see a picture of Willys out playing in the snow. This was two weeks ago when we had 11" of snow,I know it's not much but it's more than we have had in years.

Neat picture!!
HevvyDee......there's your door!
David.....it seems to work fine with your 2A tub, are there any clearance issues with the fuel filler? ( I know you have to watch how big a tire you can use)

The fuel filler clears fine,I'm guessing the top bow pockets didn't though, because it looks like they cut them off with a claw hammer and the spair tire bracket can't be used. But it was on the jeep when I got it so I'm going to leave it on untill I start restoring it,then I might go for those nice top bows and get a soft top on it.

I had thought of the top bow brackets but the spare tire bracket hadn't occurred to me. (that one should have been even more obvious)
Thanks for the info........again, nice photo. Snow really makes for a nice photo no matter how you do it it seems.

Hey 48 Willys, that is a really cool picture of what I believe to be a really cool vehicle. I too have come into possession of a 48 CJ-2A with a retrofitted DJ-3A body (and it looks a helluva lot like yours). Is that what you have based upon my inferences from your dialogue with RocnRoll? I see that you are in Virginia as am I. I bought my vehicle from a private seller in Roanoke. Where are you located and I wonder if somebody was making those body conversions on a regular basis back then? Any thoughts? Thanks, Duane |

I got mine from a guy in Floyd, about 60 miles west from Roanoke. So it could be someone was doing this.I can't think of were the guy that owned it before me said he bought it,but he had it for 30 years and it had the top when he got the jeep.My guess would be that someone was doing it for mail jeeps,at that time there were still alot of cow paths in and around Blacksberg and Indian valley that the mail would still would run on.
