While this is not actually a CJ2A axle it will give folks an idea of what the hubs on a full floater look like. (it's a MB..)

Yes, as long as the axle at the other end of the jeep was engaged. You would want to extract the broken part to keep further damage from happening, and plug the end of the axle with something to keep oil in. If the shaft has broken off you will have some fun extracting the inner piece unless you have a heck of a magnet.
Also the full floater lends itself to four wheel locking hub conversions...so one can tow without pulling driveshafts, etc.
