I was a youngster during the height of the van craze.  I was fascinated by the seemingly unlimited range of imagination involved with the custom vans.  I recently picked this one up.  It is a 75 B 200 short wheelbase. It has 92,000 original miles and still wears most of its original paint. Period correct slotted mags and orange shag carpeting sealed the dealBig smile.  It has been sitting for quite a while, so the plan is to get it road worthy, then play with the interior.  BTW, finding Willys parts is a breeze compared to trying to find parts for one of these things.

Shagadelic baaaaby!!

My dad had two or three like that over the years as a land surveyor.....he had the window vans though.
The last one would have been about that year.....had the opportunity to be in the passenger seat when we rolled it (to my side) when a guy ran a red light and hit us.....ah yeah, good times.

Thing looks straight.....is it a 318?

Those vented skylights go or around $400. these days for a nice NOS oneConfused, at least the one I would like (the one that looks like a hood scoop).  Parts for these old vans, especially the custom stuff are priced through the roof.
Chad, it has a 360 2 bbl with a 727.

Been my experience some of the 318s are thirstier than the 360s......had a 318 Ramcharger that LOVED gas.

You may be OK with the 360 (especially if there is a trailer in it's future)

Sweet! A GoodFriend had a retired phone company van1ton . That had been converted with the usual Shag Carpet and 8 Track . A bunch of us spent many nights sleeping in it after a night of partying up Iowa City back in the 70's. Darn thing rode like a Lumber Wagon. Drank a lot of Schlitz Malt Liqour in that Van. From what I remember

It does not have an 8 tack, but it does have an AM/FM/CBBig smile  I can imagine the parties that this thing has seen, that is why gutting the interior is a priority.  I can only imagine the microbes nesting in the shag... Sort of reminds me of sleeping in the Kings Island Motel LOL

Boy that does bring back some memories! If its not a Mopar muscle car, parts for anything else Pentestar seem to be hard to come by.
The people we carpooled with to school's dad was an engineer at Chrysler. They had 5 kids and we had 4, so they always had a van. The last one they got before they moved to CA was a candy apple green metallic with aqua blue interior. I remember him saying when they unloaded it it had to be a mistake. The dealer said no and laughed...they still have it and its still hideous.

Breaker, breaker for the 10-36 remember saying that a lot on the factory CB

That brings back memories...I had a 75 in High School that was gloss black with orange flames on the sides and orange thick shag carpet in the back.

I'll have to dig up a picture and post it...My 318 was so cold blooded, I used to flood it all the time and get stranded until it all evaped. I could get the dog house off and be in the air cleaner in a matter of seconds.

So Doug, does this thing have the 'err, err, err, di, di, di di' starter in it? You know the one where you hope it catches or you have to wait for about 20 seconds for it to stop spinning. I always knew when our neighbor had trouble starting his Dodge work van in the mornings...

Art, I just spit soda all over my screen.   The green 75 is solid as a rock. It was built here in STL and never left. It was rust proofed when it was new and that is my only guess. The Yellow 76 is from the west coast.

That 440 is clean in there, has it been rebuilt or still original?  I have a 78 400 bb in my dodge truck, and it is still original "stock."  You can run 87 octane in the late 70s stock dodge bb's because they had no compression.  Nice van.

Posted By: Doug Timme
Date Posted: 02 Mar. 2019 at 10:19pm
It is B&M, but not weighted. Just a solid SFI plate. Everything on the trans end needed to be neutral balance. The block is the original 360, but with a forged rotating assy. It is now a 408 with a roller cam, performer heads and Holley EFI.

Yes, the 408 went in to the green van at the beginning of this thread. It had a 360 2 bbl when I got it. I could never make the thing run right. I went through several carbs (Holley 2 bbls), even broke down and took it to a carb "guru", still just never ran right. Then one day it was sitting there running and started making a terrible noise. Something fell through the engine and poked a hole in the #1 piston. Then the rebuild got out of control to where it is now ; 490 horse, 520 lbs.

I Dig It. Amazing they both survived in such great condition.

We used to carpool to school with a family who's dad was a Chrysler engineer with a corporate lease. They had 5 kids, so they always got a van. Their dad asked us for input on the colors one year. I said black with a red interior, very groovy. He said the only way to get that color combo was in a Street Van. Their mom would have NO part of that. He liked the idea though ordered an Aspen in those colors.

So instead of a black van, he ordered green. The dealership screwed up the order. When they went to pick it up, it was candy apple green with an aqua blue interior. It was hideous. He was in a pinch so he had to accept it. I think the street van would have been less embarrassing to chauffeur grade school  kids around in.

It is at the trans shop right now. It moved forwards and backwards, but would not shift. I had the trans rebuilt and it sat in the garage for nearly a year. Hopefully, it is just a little sticky from sitting dry for that long. As soon as that is figured out, the shop that built the engine can put the final tune in the EFI. then, the fun will start.

Maybe. I think that would be cool. The yellow one has a 440. Towing with that one would be an expensive proposition. I am curious what the gas mileage will be like with the fuel injected small block in the green one. Still working on "drivability" issues with it. BTW, "wire it up, fire it up" and "self learning/tuning"...not so far Confused. I probably shouldnt be so hard on it, this was not just an engine swap, I threw a lot of new stuff at it, mainly...everything.
