Hi all,

Since I’m getting asked through PMs and text messages about EJS, I’ll just start a thread to make things easier.

I’m going to arive there Friday the 12th and leave Friday the 19th right after the FFFR run.   I also plan to sign up for Poison Spider on Thursday since nivrat is gunning on the trail for RR4W.

Trail sign up starts on the 18th of this month for RR4W members and on the 22nd for people who are registered:

https://www.rr4w.com" rel="nofollow - https://www.rr4w.com

Give me a shout here on this thread if you are coming.

I'll be there sharing a camping spot with Jeff.
I plan on staying through Big Saturday  and heading out for home on Sunday. Since Jeff will be gone on Saturday, I could use a trail partner for that day. Not sure what trail I'd want to do. Something that the EJS people are not doing.

I plan to be there the 12th-20th. I’ll try to get signed up for Posion Spider on Thursday. Looking forward to the FFR on Friday. Stan, count me in on Saturday.  I’m going to stay at the Spanish Trail RV park. This is going to be a great time!

If my schedule were to permit, I'd love to come down there for a few trail rides if anyone would offer up an empty seat.

I have an open seat all week and you are certainly welcome to ride along but I’ve been told my passenger seat is not comfortable so you might try to trade up if you can.

I’m heading out this evening. I’ll arrive Friday morning.   It looks like there is going to be snow west of Denver. Hopefully anyone living in the area can let me know how the conditions are Thursday. If there is a lot of snow, I’ll probably drop down from Limon and take Monarch Pass.

Headed over tomorrow. Staying at Canyonlands campground by Nivrat, Jeff and Stan if anyone would like to look us up.

Hope you can make it Brett. We'll find a seat.

Bugsy1. Friday's meet up is around 8:00. Leaving around 9:00 to 9:30. Meeting spot is dirt lot across from Denny's by the zip line tours. North end of town. Hope to see you there.

If anyone is interested, Tread Lightly is doing a work day  on Brumley Ridge up in the La Sal's mountain range, only about half an hour from Moab. They are looking for volunteers to help. Meet at Village Market at 8:00. Should be back by 2:00. Lunch is provided. A couple of us are going along. It's a great way to give back to an area we all enjoy. Any questions, hit me up. Thanks.

It was great to see Jpet and spend a half hour talking Jeeps.  I'm glad that he's been able to find his way around some of the worst of the weather here in Colorado.  I'd like to be able to join you guys on at least a few of the trails you'll ride, but I still have work to do on both the Blue Mule and Sam's Jeep.  So I'll tag along vicariously on these pages.  Good luck to all of you!!

After Top of the World, we decided to do Hell’s Revenge:

BDouglas in the Escalator. It’s full of water which makes it even more challenging

.... and BAM BAM discovers a way to make the “car wash” more fun:

Today we are doing Rusty Nail. Anyone who wants come needs to meet us at Canyonlands campground site 109 at 8:00

If you drive this obstacle make sure you get both front  tires coming off the drop at the same time instead of dropping the left tire down first unless, of course,  this type of adventure is what you’re looking for.

Thanks to Jeff and Ryan for the see saw tip job getting me back on all four wheels.

That's me on the right, I'm from Northern Utah, Billy Douglas (Bdouglas here on the page) from Alabama whom I just met, and Jeff Petrowich (jpet) from Illinois, whom I consider one of my greatest friends. All people who I have met due to this forum and our little jeeps. And we are sitting there discussing jeeps and life and such, like we have know each other for our entire lives. And casually doing it in a very inaccessible and breathtakingly beautiful place like it was the local bus station.

Jeff’s leaving Friday after the Fun Run. I’ll be here Saturday and we will probably do something, just not sure what. Saturday is the busiest day fir EJS and the have groups on just about every trail so we may be struggling to find something that’s not busy.

I wasn’t sure if I would belly out or not and if I start sliding, I don’t want to flip over or break an axle when I impact the bottom. Billy broke his front axle shaft on the obstacle. We got back to camp about 8:30 that night. We we need to get together in Moab and give it a try.

Edited.

I made it home in time for Easter Sunday. Here is a video of our adventures on “Rusty Nail” from Saturday a week ago:

This video includes the entire “Golden Spike” trail which required us to cross the Crack. Ryan has open diffs in his TJ. It was fun! It was particularly fun when we were working on Riff Raff and a group of dirt bikers came by. I’m paraphrasing but basically they warned us that we didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into. .... I guess not everyone knows about the “Qwaaazy 8’s”. . Another awesome memory for me was when we came upon the “It’s Harder Than It Looks” obstacle where 4 door wrangler on 40s could not make it over and had to take the bypass.   Then, Stan comes up and without fear or hesitation, just pops right up it!

An unforgettable EJS! Gr8 wheeling, Gr8 friends and it was so nice to meet Billy and Tanner. Welcome to the “Qwaaazy 8’s” and I hope to wheel with you again soon!!

Jeep season is officially on!

Great quality video!  Why does Stan's jeep keep dying?  Been hanging with Rick too long?

What a great trip, thanks for sharing!

My wife and I were watching the video on Apple TV and she said, “his Jeep is junkier than yours .... and I didn’t think that was possible”

Because Stan is a crap mechanic that likes driving his jeep way more than working on it.
Truth is, think the timing might be off a little, and the idle circuit might be gummed up a little, and the choke has a tenancy to close up a little as I'm driving and if i don't remember to mash the choke knob once in a while it will kill at idle.
It runs great at high speed and i can run 55 on the pavement pretty easy as long as its not uphill.
Jeff's wife saying my jeep is junkie, hmmm...

Ok, you asked for it.

I did not have enough leave to take all week off, so I came down Friday night and played Saturday (Rusty Nail/Golden Spike/Poison Spider) and Sunday Morning (Moab Rim), then I shot home Sunday night so I could work Monday, then back down Monday night, ready to rockTuesday morning and the rest of the week.
While I was home working, I left the key to Grampa’s Jeep with Jeff. He, along with Mike, Ward, Billy and the maintenance guy from the campground, took it upon themselves to fix a frame issue we had discovered on Grampa’s Jeep  before I left. I was very surprised and grateful.

Then, just to pull my chain a little, they drove Grampa’s Jeep up to Potato Salad Hill and staged this awesome photo and sent it to me with the caption:
“The frame works good! Having a blast! You should be here.”  Then Ward added a note ‘We’re on our third tank of gas.”

These guys are awesome and great friends.

Thx for sharing. I was actually hoping I could drive down and nudge you with my bumper but the angle was no good. Too bad they didn't post the the big tire, long wheelbase round fender struggling on the "Devil's Crack" and you coming up right after and driving right up it.

There was all kinds of pictures and video being taken the day of the FFFFR but very little, has appeared on a public forum where everyone can see it.

Thanks to RockCred for putting his video on a public source :
