Hello. I just bought the Pickett grey 1947 off BringaTrailer. Love it. Just got it delivered from Portland to Toronto. Arrived yesterday.

I know very little about these vehicles, so please excuse any silly questions. The Jeep is in excellent condition. I spent the weekend checking it over. It’s perfect - other than a brake line that needs changing as well as the brake lights don’t seem to be working.

I had one key question to ask.  I’d like to put a canvas roof on the truck. Any recommendations for suppliers? I guess I need to buy the frame and brackets, plus the canvas? Is this a DIY job?

Very much appreciate any advice and guidance. Thank you. Gary

Congratulations on your purchase! Welcome to the forum. Yes you will need to locate the hardware for a canvas top. They do offer repops from several suppliers, like Kaiser Willys, a canvas top can also be bought from several suppliers. JPet here on the forum makes outstanding canvas tops. DIY? Sure. Check out “Make your own canvas top” thread by JPet on the forum.Big smile

Many thanks. I'll reach out to some suppliers - and get the ball rolling.

The brake light switch is mounted to the master cylinder, and is problematic. The currently available switches seem to have a short lifespan. They are easy to test, and a little tricky to replace due to the cramped location. I replaced mine a couple times, but then changed to a mechanical switch last year.

Please post some photos!

I purchased a set and they were top quality and reasonably priced. You can contact him by private message if you want.

many thanks for the welcome. It’s now road legal and I’ve been ‘debugging’ it the last few days. Lots of little jobs. It’s running well

thank you so much for all the welcomes.

I’m afraid I don’t know any more history other than what was reported in the BaT listing.

I had no trouble getting the safety cert. My local garage was very good about it. They sorted the brake switch out, and they passed it.

Now enjoying some lovely Toronto weather with the Jeep
