GROUP14-05--FAN, FAN PULLEY AND FAN BELT

A-1124    SHIELD, fan pulley.....................................................................................1

A-1125    WASHER, fan pulley shield.........................................................................6

according to a post on the G503 regarding bolt length, the original bolts are long enough to re-use, and the '45 parts manual makes no reference to "special" length of new bolt..

so after looking at this engine..it seems likely that it was never taken apart...here are my findings..
in place slightly bent
most of the bolts removed
hmm....
2 different types..

so 2 different thicknesses, but equal the same thickness upon application(se "group"
 pic below)
wire wheeled them real quick..they are steel not aluminum
grouping shot...i have no idea why some were 2 pieces..maybe the factory was running low on the one piece thick ones...who knows..i'd say we need at least one more for comparison

im so happy i could contribute to 2a reasearch and resto...TongueLOL

side note..sheild is identical to the one from a cj5..i checked my bolt bag for the sheild...i dont now what i did with the spacers...Ouch...me, id just use washers...i'll wind up selling this one in the future..

more than likely at some point in time in the last 60 years, the shield has been off of the engine, and some of the original one piece spacers might have gotten lost.....

It didn't.  I knew photos had been posted before, but I only looked in the right parts group: "Cooling System" (didn't think to look elsewhere). LOL

Since we know all about these already, they're not really "research & history", so I'm going to consolidate & move to the the right part list group. Big smile

Sean

Purpose & placement of the A-1125 shield spacers.

To fill the "gap" created by the oil pan flange lip, so the pulley shield fits flush:
