If you take that trip to the eastern states I am in Iowa can lend you the use of my shop for inspections or any issues that may arise. With all your prep work and attention to detail I think you will do just fine.

On a well maintained rig, i don't think time or distance will be limited by the durability of the rig. Durability of the driver will be your limiting factor. The Willys will do any distance or time duration you ask of it.
Just my opinion.

Keep in mind I do on average 250 miles a day in a dump truck spanning 10 hours. I have recently done 4) 800 mile days in a row in my Dakota (fetching my mom from SE AZ. So time in the saddle is nothing for me. My wife should she be on the trips likes to keep travel to 200-250 a day. But the trip to the Arctic Circle wouldn't be a mad rush anyway. more like a 3 week trip. roughly 5000 miles so 240 miles a day. Not to bad.

Mark, I am a little unsure what about either of the mentioned trips is worrying you. With your build & your anal retentive maintenance practices, I would be most concerned with you & your abilities. I would not worry about the Willys. Personally, I would not worry about you either. First, the rig it is built much better then when it left the factory. Second you will bring plenty of tools & know how to the trip. Third, the availability of parts is almost no issue at all. Fourth, you have a good network of folks that will put you up for a day to a week, that would be us on this site. I, for one, am up for that! The only issue there is, can you stand me for a day to a week? Others on this, and other Jeep sites, would be happy to have you-all stop by. Thus, for the above reasons, there is no reason not to take your Willys on any trip that your heart desires, no matter the length of the trip. Stop by some time, eh? Cpt Logger, AKA, Matt W. |
