CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF THE OUT SECTOR SHAFT OUTER BUSHING IS THE LONGER ONE OR THE SHORT ONE? I REMOVED THEM BEFORE I SAW THEY WEREN'T THE SAME SIZE.

I don't remember how I put mine back together and the 1945 manual only lists them as inner and outer bushing, but...
http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/ross-steering-box_topic24958_page2.html This post from a few years ago said the longer bushing is closest to the pitman arm. That would make it the outer bushing. You could also look inside the shaft tunnel and see if there is a wear line from where the original sat. |

Based on what I can see from the illustration in the Service Manual (SM), the long is to the outside.
