I'm curious as to how people are plugging their trailer into their Jeep.

I have a '65 M416 that has been converted to a modern plug. I want to keep this since I may also tow it with my 2017 F150.

My '47 does not have turn signals and I do not plan to add them. I added a modern socket but only connected the brake and running lights. I hated drilling into the Jeep and don't like the plastic thing hanging there.

Is there something out there that uses the round access panel on the left rear panel? I have seen what appears to be original sockets on eBay but I don't know of an adaptor that would work.

Thanks,
Micah

Your first link is what was used on the Military Jeeps and is a direct bolt in for the 4 bolt port with cover on the driverside rear panel above the tail light.

There is a good write up on the bantamt3c.com page by one of our members here: http://bantamt3c.com/bantamharnessproject.htm

The second link is for the military blackout light switch (not needed to run tail lights for your use)

The third link is the cover for what the current military plug uses and helps lock the connector in place and keeps it from wiggling loose while in use.

From what I have found seaching for years is a recessed single or double terminal socket much like a bulb socket was possibly used but not easy to find.

Art,
Thanks.

I was hoping these was an adaptor or something out there that would plug into that original socket. It does not sound like there is. Maybe if I find an original trailer harness plug and wire that to a modern male socket. Just not sure if there is something like that out there and then how do I keep the two connected.

I might have to do some surgery and see if I can graft a modern receptacle into it. I just hate cutting up original parts.
