Looked at a Willys Name plate to mount on my spare tire carrier.

Charging system on the farm Jeep stopped working. The alternator tensioner arm I had pieced together had slipped and let the belt get loose, so made a proper arm that bolts to the water pump. Getting 14v now👍.

Fixed the wiring a mouse had repurposed.  The markers, turn signals and brake lights all work again.  As replace the radiator felt that the mouse repurposed.  Found the mouse nest in the tool box.

Was taking the Jeep to a swapmeet/show in NY. But the weather is terrible. So we bailed. So, I braided some synthetic winch line extensions from the now retired line from the crawler. Figured they would would be handy. Then drove across state to deliver a soft top to good friend Paul. Sat on his bar stool and admired his very well appointed CJ3B. So in essence.....I did nothing productive. But it was still a good Jeep day.

Took the front bearing housing off my dana 18.  That little lock out pill was a pain trying to slide the housing off the shifter rods.  The pill will not be going back in so I will have 2wd low.

To all,

Yesterday, May 4 th, I took "Sarge" down to support the Rogue Valley Young Marines for display and the local Parade.

"Sarge" is a 1943 Ford GPW jeep that I did for my father, who was a WW II Infantry veteran and served in the Pacific. I have a photo of my father in a jeep, in Hawaii before he is shipped out. I replicated the jeep in the photo in his memory.

The grandkids named the jeep "Sarge" after seeing the "Cars" movie many years ago.

The first photo is of "Sarge" when I purchased the jeep many years ago, the second photo is the jeep restored. "Sarge" was used in a model shoot also many years ago, the model's stage name was "Molly Graphite".

Well today I installed my fancied up Water pump and put the Alternator bracket back together. Looks pretty good.

You can see the Oil Fill tube and Heater Hose clamp I made a little better from this angle as well.

I been working on the little Sub dash that will mount on the Ididit Classic Steering column I am using (it looks amost exactly like a Willys column except for the Grant Wheel adapter built into the top of it)

This will have my 0-6000rpm Dixco Tach and 0-30inHg AutoGage Vacuum gauge along with a Red Line warning light (I'll set it for 4000-4200 rpm) Bright, Fog, Backup indicators as well as two little bitty Green indicators for Right and Left turn (I'm a little bummed that the neat Green Glass tip on my Signal Stat 800 turn signal switch is going to be hiding behind the 15" Joe's Racing Steering Wheel I am going to be using. Then warning lights for the Line Locks, Air compressor, and a spare.

Had a blast today turning a block of Aluminum 1.5" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" into the collar clamp that the Sub Dash will mount to lots fun with the Milling machine and drill press. It fits near perfect so of course I will have to have the clamp in place before I paint the Column or sliding it up the column will scratch the paint. SO that has to be put on a back burner for now.

Back to work full time tomorrow Jeep time back down to maybe 10 hours a week.

Just finished washing mine, inside and out! Getting ready for a car show here next weekend that I have
been in the last couple of years. I have won anything but since I'm the only Willys in the show
they just don't know what to do with it. Mostly complete restored old cars, truck, holt rods, rat rods,
to high end cars that I could never own due to lack of money. But mine is one of the few which the
kids are climbing all over and the guys without sleeves are looking it over. Ha. But I don't know how
many times people have come up and told me there father had one and the learned how to drive
in one as kids. It like a flashback in time for them.

Hi, I am new to this site and am in the UK
I have a 1948 CJ-2A which was rescued from near death (it was in a bad way) but after a full nuts and bolts rebuild from the ground up is now looking good.
The jeep was originally sky blue but has now been dressed in olive drab in honour of two American servicemen who served in WW2 and has been named Sylvia after my Mother who served in the Women Land Army and who recently died.

Today I am sorting out the alternator which stopped working because it got covered in oil from the oil filter above.

Is there any other UK based guys on this site?

Puddleduck, Welcome aboard!

Yes, there are some folks from the U.K. on this board. Hopefully they will make themselves known to you.

I got to get to work now. See ya, Cpt Logger.

A little behind, but this weekend I started the '48 after replacing the head, water pump, and installing oil filter; flushed the cooling system; and found it was only running on 3 cylinders...  So will be tearing it down again and sort out why the #3 intake valve is not fully closing.

Last night was our first engine night in a while, we ground down the bubba fix for the broken block, honed the cylinders and started replacing the rings.

We also manage to break the cheap amazon ring compressor before putting the first piston in. I'm going to make a trip to Napa this afternoon for a new one.

Got a new steering wheel cover that looks great, and made up a booklet on redoing my jeep.
I should be ready for the car show this weekend.
