You know, this eBay listing is a great example of how not to sell a Jeep. This thing is a fairly special Jeep in that it is a '45 in decent condition. Given how many were made, I'd say there are about 1/100 the number of these as there are comparable 2As of all types. This seller has been told by several of us that his vehicle is a '45 and not a '46 because he acknowledged that in an email from me asking for photos of the rear and about rust through and the reserve. He sent them to me quickly but did not add them to the listing. (?) Maybe the reserve is so high that he figures if it sells, great, if not, he'll relist it properly.
Oh, and it has a really odd selection of pictures, and as has been noted, the ones that are there are not very good.
Now for the silly part - I watched it on eBay until yesterday, finally decided that even though I think it is very special, I have no business getting another until I do something with what I have. Not even realizing that it was the same one being discussed here, I PMed Gary about it because I thought he might be interested. Ever gracious, Gary didn't even tell me that it's existence was old news. Even though I had seen this thread, I hadn't connected the thread with that Jeep unitl this morning when I stumbled across it again and realized it was the same one I'd been looking at!
Anyway, for what it is, I'm surprised there aren't more bids although I imagine it will get sniped. (It would if I were bidding!) I'll be curious at the outcome, though. Edited by samcj2a - 06 Oct. 2007 at 1:18pm |

Yes Sam E-mailed me about this one, and I maybe didn't elaborate on how I knew of it (lowenufs post) But I also told him who I sent the info too. Yes, I could see what was more than a probable '45 in good shape (with title). I gave the heads up to a member of ours that many have seen his work and poured all over his Jeeps, BUT doesn't post here because of poor typing skills and other medical "issues".
Anyway, I know for sure that anyone that goes to the shows around the east and mid, east will see. A very dedicated Willys fanatic. One of the guys we all look at and ask ourself, "were did he get THAT"
I know of knowone else that does the legwork and goes to all the shows than...Lonnie Deweese. He's the guy with all the toys at the reunion, the "buzz saw" the "Newgreen plow" the "sickle bar" (the yellow and red Jeeps with all the toys) ...OH, and the one with the '58 CJ5 with the "Jeep-a-Treanch" That's FOR SALE!!! (see the "for sale section""
Anyway, Lonnie is the winner on this one, and so is everyone else, because he's going to drag this one around for everyone to see.
If you knew what the Jeep has done for Lon, you would be happy for him to get this nice '45 and be happy to see it at a show or two. Congradulations Lonnie! (The real engine behind this is his great wife Marilynn) Not a better couple of Folks in the world.

Gary, i second your reply, without reservations....Lonnie came up to me at the end of the
Spring show, extended his hand outwards and shook mine while introducing himself, and shot the crap with me as if he had known me all his life. i was intrigued with his vast knowledge of the 2a. and after he departed, i REALLY felt like a part of the 2a world...i cannot wait to see this 2a....and i know Lonnie enjoys people crawling around his jeeps for knowledge.....low

That's really great to know Gary! I had sent a question to the seller, before the close, and asked for some more info. When he got back to me, the auction was over, so I replied to him that I could only hope that it wound up going to someone who would give it the "respect" that it deserves. It sounds as if it has! GREAT!

Lonnie, I know your watching....You beat out the low dawg watcher (Tony)..At the last reunion in Jefferson City I seen an GPW there. Man I could see all the numbers and componentes were correct, The engine rolled over, and the body was ...well the original body was one it. I thought that was a great deal for the $650.00 he wanted for it. WELL, no way to tow it home...At the end of the day, Ole Tony drug it home. I guess it went to the right guy. TONY, I love you man, you are the reason I go to the show...We have had WAY TOO much fun in the very dark hours.
