While cleaning up my shop a little today I found this invoice and thought some on here would find it interesting especially if you own a cj2a with s/n 20394 and motor # 21039.

Was hoping it might be listed in the CJ2A Database but it is not - cool none the less!

Very cool.

I'd be curious what that area of Baltimore looks like now.

edit: Google shows a big parking garage at that address now. Who'd of guessed, right?

Besides being very cool, I think it's valuable in that it shows us that by March 11, 1946 that # 20394 had been built, and sold. It gives us one more firm data point in establishing and proving build dates.

Agreed.  It also shows information about a distributor (we have lost that database) and that a business, not an individual was the customer.  Pretty basic Jeep, but would be fun to know how it was put to work.

Thanks for sharing the invoice.  Everyone tells a story.

Interesting.  So... based upon the rate of inflation calculator, that $1,322 in 1946 would be worth..... $19,491 today.  About the price a CJ2 in good shape might go for today.

If that one was sold on March 11, it had to be built before that.
This makes me think that mine might have been built in Feb.

I have #13396.  It has a lot of ‘45 stamped parts (including “cross out” Ford GPW parts), it looks identical to a ‘45, but is titled as a ‘46.  I’m certain it was built in late … perhaps December … 1945.

That said … I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that there was a strike at Willys in the Fall of ‘45.  That had to create a good deal of confusion on the assembly line.  So, who knows??

Perhaps someone on this forum has more info, and can fill in the details.

Either way … that invoice is very cool!

Thanks for sharing.

Looks about as plain jane as my jeep. Mine probably said:

-Front Seat
-Draw Bar
-Full Top
(Possibly Spare Tire and Windshield Wipers as well)

Really cool to see some original sales documentation though. Wish the people I bought mine from had its original paperwork, probably would have made this restoration process a little easier LOL

Which address, the Kernan Motors one or the Slaysman one?  Baltimore is not the happy city it once was, from what I hear...

There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable
