My buddy plans on building the 47 with a Ford 460, so the flathead is coming out of it.
I tried to talk him into building the flathead to put into his 32 Ford Coupe (fiberglass body) project which he has mocked up for a Ford 351, but he wants to use the 351 since he already has built one and done all the setup.
So, the flathead sitting in that old truck has no planned purpose, yet. |

So Bruce, would a guy get partial credit for 45 degree boots? Good to know in a pinch

Nope. Still wrong. And probably harder to get than 90*. 😉

45 degree terminals for 25-cents all day long here: https://brillman.com/product/135-spark-plug-terminal/ Boots are $1.90 more here: https://brillman.com/product/135-ls-type-coil-boot/ Edited by Ron D - 06 Feb. 2023 at 11:02pm |

Sure enough, and they look like mighty fine ones at that. And coming from Brillman, they should be of good quality. But they’re still not right. Willys-Overland L-head engines came with 90* terminals, some with boots and some without. The straight-on ones just look stupid, IMO. What really bugs me is that guys are being sold the straight wires and told that they’re all that is available. Just another example of the FLAPS counterman being too lazy to do his job.
Im thinking those 135* terminals would look good on an F-head, but they wouldn’t be correct there either. BW

BW, for Christmas I think a set of carbon centered plug wires with straight ends embedded in epoxy and mounted in a picture frame would be a excellent gift for you. Especially Napa Belden Blue ones.
![]() Maybe the frame should be made from a portable generator shroud. One that had run all the time with no muffler. Edited by Oilleaker1 - 07 Feb. 2023 at 9:25am |

Sorry for messing up your wonderful thread. Bruce would fire me if he saw my straight wire ends on two of my Jeeps. He doesn't like noisy generators either.
I find the copper centered wires are long lasting durable wires. I actually have a set of 90 degree wires that may be original 1948. They have the unprotected 90 degree ends and boy howdy can you get shocked. They also screw with my garage door opener frequency above a slow idle. Fact!!!!! Glad your project is up and running. Thanks for being patient with the smart remarks. Bruce, I owe you another beans and weenies creek rescue, Thanks, Oilly

Shocking, this thread!
Hey, it's a clone. Perhaps a gene flipped, leading to a wire boot mutation. Nature at work

Ah, yes, very nice, very nice. Now just be careful when working around them with the engine running!

Now THAT's one good lookin' motor!
I gotta ask. What's wrong with barbed fittings? It's not barbed wire, anyway
