all
In upstate NY,
Just picked up a 1946.?
Original owner bought brand new out of service for his upstate Farm in Syracuse,NY
Said it was  farm-all?
Know idea what he meant really
Does have rear PTO
Dash and engine mounted gouveron
Rear corner utility outlet
35,000 miles from New
Runs great, but lack of use will leed me to test it out and restore what needs fixing
I have three other jeers
1956- my birth year
1999- my off-roader
I appreciate your knowledge and input as I bring this puppy back to a good state of repair
All the best
Andy in Upstate NY

First off, welcome to the 2A world 👍🏽.... I do doubt it was purchased new “Out of Service”, but rather from a Willy’s Dealer. We indeed need to see photos of this treasure, take good care of it!...

I think he means the original owner bought the Jeep brand new after he got out of the service.

Andy, welcome to the madness! I would love to see a few pictures. Pretty please with an apple on top!

I have heard of, and seen in pictures on this site of, the "rear corner utility outlet" can you tell what it is connected to electrically? No one so far has been able to tell me. I am just curious, so it is no big deal if you do not know.

Again, welcome aboard, Cpt Logger.

Is it simply missing the gearbox?

pinballking2,

   Nice Willys score !
And yes, I agree about after-service. When we look at the production numbers for 1946 and 1947, there were bunches Sold, to the tune of 70k units each year. After 1947, the production numbers fell drastically.
Now, the dented rear quarter panel: they really take a beating in rocky country.
I took my cj7 in and back out of the Rubicon for 16-summers. There is one spot while climbing back up and out of the Buck Island reservoir which I call the "slabs" being a long off-camber section. No matter which approach I took, the jeep would slide over and the right rear quarter corner would Tag the same rock each year, no matter what. So, I would dolly-out the dent, and paint red with brush to prep for the next year's encounter. hahahahaha
I don't see the foot-rest button on the floor next to the gas pedal. :)
But, I do see the original looking riveted ignition switch / coil mount.

So, just curious, here:   to disconnect the governor for on-road use, does a person just slip off the belt ?

That is a very nice little Willys !!

    Len

Willys expected to sell most of their Jeeps to farmers in early 46.
Many of them had rear PTOs, front bumper weights, etc to do various tasks around the farm.
It seems yours actually lived the life the sales dept had planned for it.
