Sorry - forgot to include that I could not get a 1 inch chip without destroying something and they couldn't scan off off a wheel.

I thought I'd post an update to my trailer project while I sit here waiting for kickoff of some little ballgame I heard was on this afternoon. I started with "Rusty" as my son named it and this is the first time I've attempted any type of restoration, metalwork or bodywork. I've learned several things so far; I am not a welder, I must have used up all my patience with my children, I am not a welder, I'm wondering whether I really can restore my CJ (the trailer was for 'experience') and I am not a welder.
I decided early on that this was to be a usable old trailer when I was done. I will have that but it definitely won't be a showpiece. Tailgate, lights, wiring and paint left to do. |

Looks GOOD to me ! ! ! It appears you nailed the "v" tongue bracing. I'm curious did you change out the angle across the bottom outside of the head board. The vertical leg appears taller than mine???
I'm impressed, gives me incentive to get after mine.

Thanks Bob. My landing leg is just as I found it, minus the rust. I did add to the angle across the front because of the rust damage to the front. I had to cut out on the front, inside of the bed since it had rusted away about an inch and a half. I put an inch of 3/16 on top of the angle, figured I'd rather have it taller and it makes up for the inside. Like I said, I'd rather have it useful than trying to make it perfect (especially since perfect seems to be out of my reach). The measurements on the "V"you sent me worked great.

This is sure a slow process for me. Took my bucket of pvc fittings and some pipe and rigged up a paint booth, leaving just enough room to park the 2A. Painting might finally happen, one more new thing to try!

Looks good Mark. Did you glue the pipe together or is it just a "press fit"?

Definitely just pushed together. I will pull it apart, stick it in a box and use it when/if I get to the CJ. It is fairly solid, the pipe I had was 3/4" sch 40, just a bit stiffer. I added a fan blowing in through a filter at the top on the back end with a filter for 'exhaust' on the lower front. Gives it just a bit of positive pressure without a big breeze. |

Finally a little color. This my interpretation of Luzon Red to eventually go on the CJ. Definitely in need of an additional coat but color nonetheless. One with flash, one without. Color should be in between.

Mark,
Looks very good!
Where did you get the floor pan? It appears the the outside edge is raised up instead of down or did you add material to help with the rust?

I had the edge turned up rather than the original way when it was made by JeePanels Plus in Maine. I had rust damage like you mentioned and was able to get past it this way. In retrospect, I would have made it just a little taller in the front where it was the worst. |

Bob, I'd make that trade in a heartbeat...... you probably didn't mean trade 2A's though, did you? |

Oh Oh, Ive got to be more careful about the offers I make. That is how I wound up with the BT3-C I have.
Your Trailer does look good. I hope we can get together this summer as I very much would like to see your rigs. Maybe join the MIESTER and I on a weekend adventure?

Bob,
I would love to be able to make a weekend trip. I have pretty long list of things to do before I'd be able to keep up though. I can't venture very far from home right now, I go kinda slow (no OD like you guys) and I just don't trust it yet. Mark |

I know what you mean about the " trust" thing. It was last years trip that gave me more confidence. Of coarse it didn't hurt to have Gale along to bolster that trust.
There is a $500 26 tooth Warn OD on Craigs List here in Tacoma. Look under Willys --- Parts.

Very nice job Mark, hopefully that will be my next project getting and restoring a TC-3 as I almost have my 2A how I want it.
