Been following your progress on Black Beauty, Keep up the good work.

I ordered a set of lights like yours with the red lens, planing on bead blasting and painting the housing and leaving the bezel chrome and ordering the older flat style lens from Kaiser Willys. Thanks for motivating Me.Thumbs Up

FYI - the chrome trim ring looks a little deeper than the original ones on my early ā€˜47
Iā€™m sure no one except the Jeep police will know.

Thanks for the heads up on the difference and to watch out for the jeep police,  but 9.99 versus 99.99 I will take the chance with a ticket from the police.LOL

Hmm, a quick search on google saw that an ultrasonic cleaner can remove chrome.
Is this true?  If so, I might try that on the back housings.

Did you do anything to your bullet lights yet?
I received mine from the same fellow you got yours from and decided to just sand them.  I used 150 grit paper and looks like a little primer and paint will do the trick.
Could I ask you for a favor to give me the thickness of the original parking light bezel, I am going to cut these new ones to the original length and change the wiring to the cloth covered wires as well as changing the red lens to the original clear flat style that I ordered from Walcks.

   Thanks,   Jim

Not yet.... if sanding worked ok for yours I will try it. My '47 is parked in my dad's garage right now. Will check bezel depth next trip over there.
FYI - the factory lights were painted white on the inside.
I'm not a big fan of using LED's on vintage cars, but as I will be using these as backup lights I may go that way..... I should be able to find something super bright that will fit in there.

Thanks for the tip on the inside white paint, which is going to make it easy since I am using Rust-oleum bonding white primer, only using bonding primer because I already have some, might even be better. No hurry on the bezel measurement and Thanks.

The Led light bulb would probably be the way to keep the heat down in that small of an area. You will most likely have to replace the socket which looks like an easy job.

Ordered a

Powertrax 2415-LR Lock-Right

As I think that I may have a bearing grumbling in my Dana 41, I'm going to rebuild it & might as well put this in at the same time.

Just tracked it -- it's now sitting on my front porch. Hope nobody walks off with it before I get home from work. (also hope my wife does not get home before I do!)

Overdrive installed, works great.  This is a must have option once you try it.
Been running it a couple of months, initially used the NAPA GL1 90wt gear oil in the transmission & transfer case. I had some shifting issues getting it into overdrive... not always, but sometimes you had to double clutch it to get it to go into gear. Seemed to be somewhat better once the gear lube warmed up.
Did a little research & came up with this -

Wow - what a difference!  Silky smooth shifts into & out of overdrive. it's made specifically for older gearboxes that have yellow metals. I'm sold on it.

Actually I did not use it.
I went with a plain black round knob instead.

I too prefer a plain knob. I had one with a shifter fabricated from a T-90 shift cane so it had that tapered cane and used the same knob as the transmission. I liked the look of that better than the non-tapered cane with the flat top knob.

Had to bend the crap out of the lever to clear dash.
Only issue I had besides gear oil was clearance for the shift rod.
As my hat channels are shot & body mount pads mostly gone, the distance between body & shift rod was very minimal. Rubbing a tad so I used the angle grinder & shaved the rod a tad.
