Decided to pull transmission & transfer case. Looks like it's been a while since this cover has been off.

So far so good.

Having problems removing transfer case lever pin.  Considering jacking front of jeep way up & sliding it out with the levers on.

 Thoughts?

Some guys drill a hole in the transmission tunnel to access the pin.. Then you can make a removable cover for future repairs.. If you run a search I have seen some pictures on the site before.

About your oil pump - without the gasket for the plate, the shaft will not rotate. The gasket provides the clearance required.
Ship of Theseus - As years go by wooden parts begin to rot and are replaced by new. After a century, all of the parts have been replaced. Is the "restored" ship still the same object as the original?

Yeah, considered cutting a hole in the tunnel. May yet do that.

Oil pump cover did (& does) have a gasket, it was the cosmoline gumming up the works

Make it like an M-38 hole/cover.  It's pretty much the ideal solution.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

My thought exactly. Is there some sort of measurement or specs on hole size / location?
I'm sure I can get it close, but if there is a spec out there it would help

I drilled a access hole and bought the M38 cover plate.  Sure helps out.
