I have a small leak around the butterfly valve, is it supposed to leak to any degree? I'll be digging in and replacing the exhaust with an MB exhaust this weekend, as well as redoing gaskets and such trying to solve this vaccum problem

Got my new exhaust and spring kit in! I have manifold studs coming soon to replace the rusty and corroded ones, but my brass nuts are holding strong!

I always enjoy it when I find other things that my jeep lacks but should have, id assume at least, looks like I should be getting a skid plate for the tranny area...

what else should I check or do when I go to replace the manifold gasket, exhaust, etc...?

I should add as well, the parts 1946 jeep I have didn't have the guard on on it nor did this one when I got it, but the horse did have a generator splash guard. my 1946 lacked this and I remember being confused as to its presence initially, ah well,  live and learnLOLLOL

Pics tomorrow, but I have started to gut out my current exhaust pipe and also working on the manifold bolts so far all is good and turning, I just have those two nuts at the "joint". These brass nuts are a life saver

Cleaned off where the carb mounts and have a new gasket inbound, I'll also plumb my pcv correctly and reseal the valve cover, pcv valve terminal.

Also gonna get rid of that extra oil line and flip the valve cover to the correct way, when all is said and done, it should be sealed up good and hopefully that stupid vaccum leak will be gone

I did run it and got to watch my heat riser function properly!

Made good progress of the exhaust and gasket tear down today mostly tonight...

The gaskets might or might not have been leaking but they were super brittle upon removal. The brass nuts are an awesome lifesaver

My valve cover that was on this jeep was bent or warped (looked like over torqued) and that extra oil line connection is welded to it, fortunately I have a spare all cleaned up and ready for action.

The valve springs and the visible internals look good though!

The manifold themselves look good and the mating surfaces polished nicely

I have been in contact with scoutpilot and that has been helpful to no end, hopefully all this mess will help with my idle issue, or at least I'll know it is the carburetor

While you have good access to the valve tappets, now would be an excellent time to check the valve lash.

That is a good idea of which I considered but I'm not sure if I have the proper measurements to do it

I am currently working on getting the intake and exhaust apart, but they seem stuck.

Put my valve cover back on and replaced the super corroded studs but I dont feel like messing with the others, but they are fine anyway
