Nothing mechanical, but I got some repro mussette bags and the cowl bag from big willy! The jeep is starting to look good with all of the stuff hanging off it to distract from the metal defects lol. I also ordered the old style tow rope to go on my bumper for some more detail

I love the details! Bags look cool.... I would through them in the mud and run em over a few times, get the vintage look WinkThumbs Up

I know some people dont like when a cj2a is cloned to be an MB but I think in this case I get a very easy pass.

Doing fluid change tomorrow on the diffs, tranny and transfer case, and oil. So I'll know what I have I  there now

So good progress today! I was finally able to replace my differential fluid as well as engine oil. Tomorrow I'll check it to see the level it's at as a precaution.

I took the oily rags and spent oil and burned it and for a few hours my backyard looked like a middle eastern oil field.

Bow I have to drain and replace the tranny and transfer case, and I picked up the tube to do it correctly! So then I will have new fluid and grease in it all

Keep on going. We all started this journey from nothing. Years ago I got a pump that fits on a 5 gal. pail.
Much faster and cleaner. I do have GL1 and GL5 in some pails back there.

Yea its gl1 mineral oil from napa that is going into everything but the engine. The engine oil is something from valvoline that a member recommended.
The grease I use is a lucas oil heavy duty mining grease (green) good with water and harder use

No GL1 in the front or rear end. You need the correct fluid. I believe GL5 is what you need back there.

You should also check your knuckles.

I should check those you are correct. Someone on here said 90w GL1 is good for it all mostly and besides its certainly better than the crap that came out. I've had it for two years cause I didnt know what to put in it

I dont have an issue swapping the fluid out. But like I said, it's better than whatever was in it, and I mostly got it for the tranny, but was following another member

Two different types of gears. The rear gears require a hypoid lube. You can potentially destroy your axel with GL1. So, probably not better than what you had in there.

Refer to your Operation and Car or Service Manual.

But new plan
I'll go to napa this week and get the right GL5. But it sitting with the GL1 wont hurt it, I might drive it a mile at the most this week

GL1 was all that was around in the old days. if it even had a designation. It works, there is a lot of old cas and trucks that are stll around. I admit that I didn't know until I read up on it. One thing I found out is that if you have some sort of limited slip in your axle, despite what it says on the botte. You need to add the extra juice to lube them. Oterwise they chatter.
