If that site is accurate then there are two stations in the state that sell ethanol free, one in the north and one in the south, neither being close enough to warrant going there, we are talking an hour or mor of driving to get there.
I'll see if Maryland has any just over the state line closer to me And I believe, and I might be mistaken because he did it in degrees with the computer system, that he set it to .12 degrees of toe in. I am not sure how it translates to inches though.

Silly question, on my spare engine I'm breaking down, it has rope packing, is that still used in modern rebuilds?

It can be. There are more modern neoprene lip seals available, and the "rope" seals are as well. The quality of both, as with every other part, can be good, questionable, or terrible. Research what you want and where to get it.
See that little dowel pin in the block, where the bearing shell came out? Don't lose that. They can be difficult to remove but will fall out when you least expect them to. There are 5 of them. At least they are available, they didn't used to be, but they are $7.50 each. BW

Fortunately at least the lower part of the engine was soaking in oil, the valves are stuck, but the pins popped right out. Now where are the other two? I see three, one under each cap

Each main bearing has two, one in the block, one in the cap. Except #1, doesn’t have one in the cap.

My new fuel tank should be in today and it was noted to be galvanized on the inside, should I coat the tank or leave be?

If you like metal shapers videos he talks a lot about the seal. I haven’t watched in a while but I think he prefers the rope as when done well is better. But I am for sure no expert but may be worth the effort to watch.

I was really happy with the Joe's motor pool rubber rear main seal. NO leaks on mine yet!
.... but do watch Brian's video on this, I seem to recall that there were a couple of different sealing surface diameters & that determined what type of seal you need to use.

The drive went well!
Perhaps it's just me, but it feels a little smoother, less vibration. But with the noticeable play that it had, maybe when the shaft is rotating at those speeds it is a little more noticeable...

Got my new fuel tank, solid fuel line, and new rubber line to go from the metal to the fuel pump.
Should I coat the tank in anything before installing? Currently it's just bare galvanized metal. I am looking at cracking my own gasoline just to get rid of the ethical in it, perhaps thatll solve my post shutdown flooding Edited by General Eisenhower - 16 May 2022 at 3:45pm |

Don't try cracking your own gasoline! Not only will it not work but you are talking super dangerous! I hope you were just kidding.
