This group has been very helpful with my 2a project. I'm now the proud owner of a Jeepster and require the same support. In using this site for technical help with my new toy in what section should I post or is there a dedicated Jeepster site that I have not yet found?

Best of luck with your new Jeepster! They are super too and
a whole lot of fun - just another branch in the family Willys tree!
We have had a 1950 six cylinder Jeepster for about twenty years
now - it would be one of the very last vehicles we'd ever consider
giving up!
It you find yourself coming this way, please feel free to look us
up...

Thanks Randy and Joe. Ill look at the links today. The car arrives today. 1950 with a six cylinder engine. It will need brake and motor work but it is a gem.

Ok here goes. Drained gas from tank and bowl, looked and smelled like diesel. Fresh gas and a charge of the six volt and she fired and ran!! Oil press gauge not working but engine sounds good. No bearing knocks and some valve noise but not bad. Let her get up to temp for first time in many years. Runs smoothly but I don't think on all cylinders. Smokes pretty badly. Thought my next step would be new plugs to see if she will hit on all six. Also thinking about checking compression this weekend. Any advise would be welcome.

Need advise. Checked compression
100, 110, 100, 115, 45, 105. I noted cylinder #5 had a non foul adapter on the plug. Added a couple cap full of sea breeze to each cylinder, waited a few hours and rechecked. 120, 80, 105, 125, 110, 105. Change the oil which was thin but with sludge chuckes at the end. Drove here around a while with less smoke but still not great. So #5 came into line but #2 dropped. What would cause this? My plan is to wet them down again and let it soak. I should be able to get her on the road next week with plates and insurance and plan to try and get some miles on this old engine. My NAPA guy says maybe a valve job will do the trick. Comments would help. Joe |

Here she is. Note the original owner in the garage. He bought the Jeepster new in 1950 and it has been in that same garage for 60 plus years. |

You may need the valves ground to get proper compression. That is one wild looking jeepster!
