I have an issue and liking for assistance... 1948 CJ2A. If I put the jeep in any gear (R,1,2,3) and push the jeep, it rolls freely. If I engage the transfer case and put in either Hi or Low, you can not push it and clearly the gears are engaged. I put the transfer case back to neutral, but the gear shift into any gear, it once again can be pushed with no resistance. Any guidance is appreciated. Steve
Fixed.. No help needed.. Tried to delete post but could not. Sorry Edited by T45965 - 05 June 2023 at 5:54pm |

If the t case is in neutral, the driveshaft are free to spin. The TC needs to be in high or low for the vehicle not to freewheel when the trans is in gear.
The 2wd/4wd selector will always activate the rear axle, and also the front when in 4wd. Again the high/low lever must not be in neutral for the jeep to drive. You should not be able to select low range unless the 4wd is selected. Neutral is used for pto use with the jeep stationary. Edited by TERRY - 05 June 2023 at 5:06pm |
