Sure sure this is a 2A forum but at least a 1/4 of all 2A's appear to have a 3A windshield so I will ask here. If you were to place a straight edge on a 3A frame say just above the canvas top channel would it be flat side to side?
Mine has a bow. But as discussed earlier the frame was damaged in a lay over on the drivers side. Before I go fixing things I want to be sure. It will be an easy fix just a heavy steel tube to clamp to and some careful use of C clamps to pull it straight. t |

I'll have to double check tomorrow, but I think mine has a slight crown in the middle.

If you would check that would be great.. If I can get a couple/three guys to respond I'll have my answer. Glass is flat but the molding would allow for a slight bow in the frame.

I have one I picked up just recently (a.k.a. no history on it), it's flat side to side across the front above the channel...

Thanks so much that sure looks like mine has a bow in it that does not belong there. OK one more thing to fix.

My mistake. I thought you meant the very top edge of the windshield. There is about 1/2" of rounded slope from the center. The very front of my frame, like mbullism's, is flat

Much thanks to both you guys. The bow in mine is so minor and looks so even it had me stumped as to if it was original. As my glass was in place and sure doesn't look bowed I wondered if the frame was bowed while leaving the flange flat (hey you can do anything with a 200 ton sheet metal press LOL)
I now have a real good idea of how I will straighten out this frame. Hopefully I can get started this afternoon. |
