I bought this car about ~8 years ago now. it was originally a slant 6, 3 on the tree. the body was in decent shape not much rust a little by the rear corners near the wheel well. interior was good as well, rear seat, head liner and dash pad where excellent. the front seat needed to get done and the front door cards some one had cut holes for speakers.

I first installed a 383 4 spd and then almost immediately after i stumbled into a 426 hemi long block at a really good price. i think it was an old race engine because it had been windowed on both sides near the oil pan. but it had been fixed and a machine shop gave it the green light.

after that i looked for a d60, hemi 4spd, k member, wiring harness everything so if you popped the hood looked inside you wouldnt know it wasnt a 426 hemi car unless you read the VIN code. Its a great cruiser and have taken it on several 200 miles day trips

its a 66 Coronet Base 2 door post, a lot of people dont realize that the Delux wasnt the cheapest Coronet you could buy. what did a Base get you well nothing. no trip, no chrome on the drip rails, no trunk light, no chrome any where, no heater, no radio, no cig lighter, the cheapest steering wheel, no tint windshield, the only thing this person ordered was a multi speed windshield wipers.

from what I have read in 66 there were 11 Base 2 door post 426 cars I think 5 where autos. so if this was one of them it would be worth a lot of money even with out a hemi.

I have tons of photos but I have to go through a couple of old hard drives to find them

Nifty. I can't see the pics for some reason, but I've always liked those cars. My buddy has a '64 Post Belvedere Ruby Red with 528 Hemi and push button auto, which he restored. He cut up a hard top and 4 door to make it. When I was 17 I looked at a '66 Belvedere for sale with a 440 6pk 4 speed. I really wanted that one, but the guy sold it to someone else. Post cars don't come around often and are especially difficult to find without a bunch of rust.

that moonshiners article is a good read.
LOL yeah as the video i posted shows i have no problems melting tires.

Those are some nice cars but I like my paint a little more weathered. no issues parking near other cars or taking it on long road trips.

I some times throw on a set of old cheater slicks mounted on C body wheels so a little wider. I got them painted in a 60's colors. and take it to old school drags.

I can see the pics now. Very nice. I also agree that it sucks to have a car with nice paint. Our '63 Nova has a beautiful paint job and it makes me nervous to drive it. I wouldn't have had it painted, but it was so bad, that I had no choice. I also love the sleeper look. Here's our Nova. It's an original SS 6 cyl glide car that now has a Muncie 4 speed and small block. Cars like yours made me build this one.

This is a big block Flathead 134 CI, three speed, 4X4 that I restored many years ago. Something a wee bit different per se. It is bone stock with the addition of a "jungle jim" set up above the jeep body.
The jeep was supporting the Young Marines in a annual local parade many years ago.
The jeep is a 1943 GPW and is now displayed at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Triangle, VA.
I still have my bone stock three on the tree 45 CJ2A, so please be gentle about the posting a non CJ2A on the page.

That jeep appears to be 1 of 200 Holden ambulance jeeps built for the USMC.  Interesting jeep.

dasvis

The big block was a wee bit of Southern Oregon humor.

Well anyway, is does have a big block as compared to my Wel Bike, which is two cycle.

But if you compare it to my bonestock 64 Rockin Ranch Arrow 260 CI V8, it has a bigger block than the GPW or the Wel Bike.
