I will upon request or an authorization add a link for your serial number. This way people can go to your web page and look at your CJ and or progress. They might also find some helpful information at your site.
So if you have submitted your numbers to me and want or don't mind me adding a link to your page, send me a private message with your serial number and the link for your page or site. I think this will be one more way to help people out. I will add them in ASAP... I will be adding the following field in this week sometime: Date stamp on the engine (oil pan mounting surface) If anyone would like to see other fields that we can add info to please let me know and I will add them in. Sean has been doing some incredible research on the blocks, dates etc. So everyone get him your information and pics if you can. One thing pointed out to me by GaryArf, he told me when I first picked up my jeep that this is such a small community and also there is not a lot of them out there. Also there is not a lot of documentation for the older CJ's. So its up to ALL of us to try and help out when and where we can. Thanks everyone for you time... AGAIN!! LOL |

Hey Dave45 , I have 1945 2A #10696....Pretty darn good shape, almost complete, although I do not have the original motor.....currently has a 43 GPW engine in it. I do have engine #42xxx that I will drop in it someday. I know the rear axle date is 8-28-45 and the front axle date is 8-27-45. The column shift tranny is dated 7-20-45 and I can't see the whole tag on the end of the transfer, but the first letter is definitley the letter H......I've been following your progress on your 45.... Heck, I follow everybody's progress here on the 2A page. I am on a streak right now on finding jeep parts, mainly MB and GPW parts, so I havent' got time to post...... just time to gather jeep parts

Thanks I added what numbers you gave me. Shoot me the rest when you find them. Just to make sure I got it right: Tranny date of 7-2-45 is the cast date on the side of the trans above the shifters correct? |

CJ2A 21433 that I may put in my 45....Forgot to add that my toeboard gusset # is 965, and tailgate number is 965 also....Thanks for adding mine to your data base....

Question about the "frame serial numbers". I do not have a tag on the frame, but I have the serial number tag (and body tag) on the firewall. Are you referring to the tag on the frame when you say "frame serial number"?
EDIT: Okay, I just looked at the database again and answered my own question. I see you're referring to the actual tag on the frame. I don't have one of those. Is it the same number as the serial number tag on the firewall? What about the tags on the pass. side of the firewall. I don't see a place for those numbers in the database? Its funny you said that. I am working on adding more fields right now as we speak. There will be MANY more columns added today and tomorrow. Check back in a day and there will be a place for you to add that in. Russ asked me to add those columns in and I am doing it right now.
Thanks David |

Mmm, so a CJ2A with a chassis frame serial number #100437 should be made at 1947. Am I wrong?

Rick, the original engine should have a "CJ2A" prefix, on an MB engine, the factory ground off the original MB numbers, and restamped either the side pad, or the pad behind the water pump...something else i find interesting about your numbers are, the fact that your serial number is 54 units BEFORE mine, yet your ACM body number is 14 units AFTER mine, and you have a tailgate ACM number, i don't....
Folks, this data thing Dave has started might just very well, show a work slow down timeline....if you just compare my numbers with Rickslatts, study the tranny/TC and axle numbers...they are close, yet at the same time, all over the board, possibly dictating the troubles Willys was actually having in-house trying to keep up with MB production, and yet deliver the CJ2A to the public...just some food for thought...low Edited by lowenuf - 21 Sep. 2007 at 12:59am |

Low, I have what is left of CJ2A #10913....no tailgate, no firewall tags, but I still have the frame tag which is the same # as dashplate. The toegusset # is 743. No engine, someone changed over the tranny to a floor shift, but I still think it is the original front and rearends....I will check the dates and let you guy's know...... |

Have been working off and on getting new columns for information added. GaryArf suggested a column for Chain or Gear drive so that has been added. A few people have also asked me about the Autolite dates. SO I made a date page for that as well along with some old documents about dates changes etc...
http://dcent.net/cj2ainfo/autolite_date_codes.htm So keep sending me ideas on what YOU would like to see in the database and I will add them in. And for those who posted their numbers already please check back from time to time to see what new info we need. For those who have not posted yet could you please take some time when you can to add your info to the page. Thanks David |

Back again.LOL
I added index tabs to the site so you can just look at a certain category at one time instead of having to look at the whole table. This way if you want to say just look at the transfer case area it will only show them. Hope this helps make things easier. Remember to submit those numbers when you find them. Some things that having the database for me I have learned. I thought something was weird having 10231 and a tcase serial number of J 411788 but the casting date was right on and it had the 3/4 shaft , and the 46 I have 17458 having a tcase serial of J 1960 and it's date stamp was correct and had a 3/4 shaft. I had talked with Sean for days on this. We could only come up with at that time that maybe they were left over MB cases with cj2a gearing. Now that Garyarf posted his tcase serial of J 393999 maybe this is proof that the early ones had MB cases and cj2a gears. Its still an assumption at this point but there is a little light now instead of complete darkness. So keep the numbers coming!! Thanks David |

David,
I just posted numbers & such for three '47's and a '48 that I have. Some of the numbers are hard to get to and I didn't want to get too much "Down-n-dirty" today, so some of the numbers will have to wait. If those are important to anybody, if they'll let me know I'll go get 'em for them. Thanx for setting this up. BW
