Yes that is very true and I don't think there is anything in my post that said that they did. CJ5s and CJ7s were jeeps and they did come with 11" brakes from the factory and they did come with 15" wheels. My post also ended with question mark so........thanks for the info. |

Well it seems I'm not very good at remembering to update this, but I've made progress and I'm almost ready to get it back on its wheels. It's been a LOT of two steps forward, one step back.
Lots of pics on my google photos. https://photos.app.goo.gl/U9ewHX6fXJvgdgZ96 The column shift is rebuilt. Weirdly, there was a bend in the steering shaft and cover tube but not the shift rod. The steering wheel was bent too but luckily didn't crack. Now everything is straight and shifts smooth. I found a spare just in case. I placed a big suspension order with Walck's on a Wednesday morning and it was here by Thursday afternoon. Im lucky I'm only a five hour drive away but they really are good about getting orders out quick. My springs were too far gone. I wanted to re-arch them but the local spring shop would have charged twice what the repos cost. I'm adding 11" brakes but found the older style knuckle doesn't fit, so i found two newer style with the steering arm cast in. The original parts are going on the shelf. The engine shop is doing all the necessary refresh on the crank, cam, bores etc., but using as many original parts as they can. More on that soon hopefully. Ive got to figure out wheels next. Meanwhile I keep plugging away |

Nice be sure the machine shop has the ability to dress up the rear seal surface and that they are aware of the bulletin regarding minimum diameter it can be cut. do a google search for "willys l134 rear oil seal service bulletins" and you will find the info.

I haven't updated much cause its been boring stuff that everyone has seen before, but THIS is something worth posting.....April 4, 2019 15:36 pm Couple minor things showed up after this first run, but nothing major. EDIT: the full version of this video is in the link to the google album on the first post in this thread. Something i forgot to mention was that we couldn't get enough juice on the 6v battery to get it to catch so we used a 12v battery and coil. Started right up after I corrected the switched wires mistake. Edited by EMyers - 05 Apr. 2019 at 3:30pm |

After a 15 minute joy ride and the neighbors wondering just WTH is he doing now, I parked in the garage. This morning no drips from anywhere! That one spot is from my sons incontinent vehicle

Did you try the 11 inch brakes with the early knuckles?
I have seen posts that they will not work at all or it's really close or it just takes a little grinding.

Yes I did and found the stock knuckles hit the 11“ backing plate. In using the newer knuckles I had to use two shorter passenger side tie rods to account for the decreased width between knuckles. I didn’t want to bend, grind or modify original parts so it can be converted back to stock If I ever feel the need.
