No drips? Did you remember to put oil in it?

Oil?! I know oil choice is a personal matter but for what it’s worth I’m using penngrade break in 30 wt. and 10w30 penn afterward. I didn’t buy it here but this site has a good description that I can’t find on the penn site Edited by EMyers - 19 May 2019 at 1:29pm |

The latest work: I found a crack in the cylinder head despite the shop magnafluxing it. Luckily I had a spare. Took it to the same shop who tested it twice, took a few thousands off, tapped the plug holes and primed it with cast blast paint in less than a day. On the house! They wouldn't even take lunch money. It’s nice working with good people.
Got the new head on today and ran it up to temp for a re-torque tomorrow. Ive been plugging away at the tub. In trying to reserve as much paint as I can, I used a soft wire brush cup (or ten) in an air angle grinder on the worst rust which was the underside. I hand sanded the rest with CLR, WD-40 and wet dry paper 220/500/1000 on the rest. I used the WD as a rinse wipe down after the CLR. I was going to clear coat it but saw others had used boiled linseed oil to slow re-rust. I figured it was worth a try and easier to take off than a clear coat. I have to say it does give the rusty parts a warm glow patina. It smells good too! Didn’t think I’d like it but it looks good. Pics later.... Going to put the tub back on this week! |

Well it’s on the road. I still have an electrical gremlin or two to work out. However, for the most part it’s complete.
The setting of this pic looks like I’ve truly returned to 1946! |
