Thanks, Mike... I love doing things for the first time, by the time you figure it out it's done (that what she said ) (...I thought I did pretty good on both accounts )

i used some "Fast Steel" because it was in my basement supply depot (organized hoarder shelving) and i am trying to use up or re-purpose stuff instead of continuously buying. probably not much different from PC-7. it is putty and worked really well, though not as optimal as quality welding. it has held up well.

embarringly still largely in parts acquisition mode... Had a great trip to Hershey, then piggy backed on a trip to Gettysburg/Mason Dixson the following week... delivered cj2 seats to Hershey (going to make a separate post), a Ramsey PT1-J to Mason, and arrived home to find this waiting
One more piece of the puzzle It came with a duplicate key for the Yale cylinder...

If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!

In terms of "project", this has gone glacial ... work, major kitchen remodel, family illness, maintaining the rest of the fleet...seems the list gets bigger, not smaller. That said, still drive it every chance available. It continues to be my happy place
Documentation mode here. Nofender recently posted stamped dates on his axle housings "confirming" (as much as one can) that they were original to his 26819. I joked that I had not checked mine so they were obviously original, and that checking could only be bad and prove them to be salad bits from another jeep ... why would I risk it? I'm fairly certain Andy did this on purpose, passive aggressively, knowing full well I would dwell on this and eventually cave and HAVE to look. Bastard. ...Yesterday I caved. I'm so weak. The rear was inconclusive given the time I had available, so more on that later. The front is actually worse than I had imagined... so much worse. 10-30-46 ... great , original to the jeep... I already knew that! After previously doing due diligence checks of service bulletins and interpolating backwards and forwards, "the" database, comparisons of other jeeps with serial numbers close, and having other stamped dates "fit", etc., I've been going happily along believing 69750 was built on halloween '46, Thursday. Not sure how that's possible now- (Stop laughing, Andy... I KNOW you're laughing ) Edited by mbullism - 12 Mar. 2023 at 6:23am |

So you too are now checking your rears (Diffs.) It appears you have a November baby, and 69750 was probably (probably) built after 69749 and sometime before 69750...BUT... was it assembled buy some gal in a skirt like mine was????? Edited by 3-48s - 12 Mar. 2023 at 11:10am |
