The family '47 CJ2A and I had our second meeting today. As soon as I get my outbuilding done, the fun begins. Will post pix when I get to the laptop.
It hasn't moved since 1989.

There is a weird color of blue on the firewall. The exterior looks black. There are places where the black is faded or rubbed through and it looks like a very dark navy.
Does the body tag give any clues about the factory paint color?

Is the color scheme basically "pick one" or can I document the factory paint code just by sanding through and seeing what is under?

Joe,
The serieal #'s and body #'s don't give any clue as to the paint. They are just one-up numbers as they rolled off the assembly line.
You can check on the cj2apage.com home page and there is a link there called Paint Chips that gives a chart that shows the color schemes available for each year. Here's a clickable link. http://www.thecj2apage.com/paint.html

Also, lots of my early on questions were answered by reading through the Tech - Faq subforum of the Tech Questions and Answers forum here.  Another clickable link. http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/tech-faq_forum57.html

And welcome to the forum. Your rig looks awsome. Looks better than mine and I'm pretty much done as much as I intend to.

I have some pix up from the weekend.

I can see now that finding proof of Normandy Blue and black wheels was not hard.

And you can see in the engine bay where I have some wiring to do and some crap to get out of it before dreaming of hearing it run. I love the idea of driving it first. It's going to need at least two tires anyway. The rear are 7.5 x 16 and the front are 6.5 x 16 and broken at the sidewall from sitting flat for so long.

pix here:
