Hey guys, after so many years reading the forum, I just wanted to share my experience and challenges while restoring my CJ2A. It is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, so my biggest challenge is getting parts. I travel often (or used to) to the US and I was able to gather some. I also buy parts in Brazil and some used ones here. Still not enough...

There is nice number of Willys in Argentina, most of them were imported by the government during the 40s and 50s until Kaiser built a local subsidiary in Cordoba, Industrias Kaiser Argentina or IKA, producing cars from the mid-50s to the 70s, e.g. Willys trucks, Wagon, the Gladiator and a variety of Jeeps.




My CJ2A was used by the Army and then bought by a farmer, who added GNC. GNC or Compressed natural gas (CNG) is usual in Europe and LATAM and it is added to the engines to save gas.

Frame and body were sandblasted. In the frame we changed the front and rear cross members, corrected the horns, battery holder and shock mounts. We used cold rivets when possible, or bolts where we not could reach.








Corrected the gusset in the rear cross member.

Not a priority at this stage but wheels are ready. They were sandblasted, painted and cured in an oven. It is a specific paint with not too many color options but it is close enough. They were striped by hand.

The body was needing repair and some new panels. We started by the back floor that was in decent shape, we were able to save most of it. Some fixes here and there and new hat channels that I brought from the US. New wheel houses that I found in Brazil.

110861 was in very good company at the body shop, friends were working on a Slat and a GPW, but I still love the CJ2As.

Yes, Rodolfo, the owner of the shop, is getting good, in the absence of available body pannels here, he has to build most of them.

This is the Autolite speedometer that was used in the CJ2As that were exported.  I brought the odomoter down to 0km (almost) so that is measures the second life of the Jeep.

Worked on the tailgate that had the usual rust in the lowers section. The repair section that is being sold by one of the members of this group is excellent, it makes the work very easy:

I replaced the master leaves of the springs, tried to keep the ones that were in good condition. The plan is to see how the springs work, the height of the frame/body from the floor with the engine on it, and then re-adjust the springs, if needed.

I love the shop that did the work, they were probably open when my the my CJ was leaving the factory. The old machines they have still do the job.
