Steelyard's tailgate looks good. Yes, Luzon Red is perhaps the most difficult Willys paint color to match. My 2A body also has original paint under the cargo bed where the rear axle oil leak helped protect it for 70 years. I'll get that scanned soon.
Meantime, the following color mix was published years ago on the 2A page: Parts Color Gauge Reading 48 Lt. Maroon 48 34 Deep Maroon 82 12 White 94 5 Carbon Black 99 |

The tool
box was removed from my CJ and I found one that needed a lot of work, looks
much better now. Work continued by soldering the back and the firewall together
and putting in place the seats. |

Thanks Luzon.
I spent
time working on the governor. It looked bad when I found it but these are
quality parts that go back to life with a little of work. The main challenge
was founding a missing arm and the bolt. |

Back to work in the CJ after a couple of months out of business due to COVID and a cracked engine. I decided to re-open the axles and to change bushings, should had done it right from the start. I am still searching for the paint, hoping to start painting very soon. |

Max,
Here is a couple more shots of my Luzon Red tailgate. It looks a lot darker in the shade and after it dried in comparison to the previous picture when it was freshly painted. I think it compares well to the original paint on the underside when I had it scanned. I hope this helps in your paint selection. Micah |

Thanks Micah, it helps. Nice mountains you have over there, look like Mendoza, our wine state.

We continue with this project, and the search of parts in this part of the world continues to be a pain in the neck, so lots of busshing to save old parts.

We are now focused on finishing the body, trying to use a small quantity of fillers. I like to use metallic polyester filler from Roberlo that is very strong.
The rotisserie is very useful |

Paint is ready, I went with the Luzon red from Glasurit. Looks nice but it is too delicate.
We are almost ready to start assembling but we need to solve a leak in the transfer case.... In the meantime I found a good heatshield from a local manufacturer, good quality. It helps to find parts in this part of the continent to avoid the shipping cost. |

A crack in
the block is complicating the project but I will not give up, this is a
marathon not a sprint, we will find a new block soon. There are some available
here, locals like to swap original engines with ford taunus, so one should
emerge soon. The body is
on the chasis and I worked on the grill. I know, the footman loop should be
body color, I think this was the only one that came with the CJs, the other
ones were optionals and were added by the dealers without considering the
color, just theory… Found a
similar brown to the original. Some old
lights were a good match black footman for now The lights make it look harvard red but believe me, it is very Luzon The Willys
truck in the back is waiting |

Great job. I think the footman loops are supposed to be black. Where is the crack in the block? Repairable? Number of posts/threads about repairing blocks. Good luck

Thanks Mike, just on time, I was sure that the footman loop in the grill was the only one body color. One less to worry. Based on the 'experts' advice over here it is not reperable, but sometimes I think they just dont want to deal with old engines. |
