Got some work done. Welded in some new sheet metal onto that rear corner of the tub that had the the "shark bite" taken out of it. Still have alittle to do there before I call it good. I have some painted parts hanging in the living room waiting to be installed. (Yes I have a very pro-Willys wife that puts up with that sort of thing pretty well)

I popped the new Carter WO onto it today, but then I realized the carb doesn't come with any of the linkages and small parts, so now I'm waiting for more parts to arrive.

I'm still fighting with removing that steering wheel. I put a 5 ton puller on it and nothing. Wheel didn't budge although it bent the spokes on the steering wheel pretty good. Angry

I have no idea why these pictures are uploading sideways. I guess a trip to the chiropractor will be in order for some of you. Thumbs Down

Dean I have one of those steering wheel pullers that Terry makes that I even beefed up a little as I had a steering wheel that I eventually had to cut off. If you want to try it you are welcome to it. https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/steering-wheel-puller_topic37433.html

Might take you up on that, getting that steering wheel off has not been fun and its still hanging on there.

Also, if anyone has run their own brake lines, I have an issue/ question

I hooked up the rear hard lines with zero issues, everything lined up great. Then I pulled the line going from the master cylinder back toward the rear of the rig, and I can't figure out whats going on with this line from Walcks. It doesn't look anything like the line I pulled out, and its got this weird bend in it. Am I over thinking this or did they send me the wrong line?

I believe you have to take that bend out. They do that for shipping

I don't think so Mike. I got mine from Walck's and there was no bend. Plus, on the one pictured, if the bend is straightened out, the line looks like it will be way too long. I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm mistaken...

It's been a while, but I believe I had to bend mine too...if this is the piece that turns out in a 90 degree angle, into the rear cross member, just ahead of the rear axle.

Ah, yes, Hawky has something there. About half of that bend needs to come out. BW

That was my hang up too. If straightened, it would be way too long.

Straighten it from a 180* bend to 90*. It turns and goes into the frame crossmember, to the middle of the crossmember.
  Wow. Deja Vu.    BW

Just had to check...

The overall length of this brake line piece on a 2A/3A  is approximately 64" long.

That might be tough to get good photos on an installed piece.  Here is a quick diagram (don't make funErmm) showing the original routing of the line...

You are in the ball park, the parts manual calls for a line 62.94" long.  I used the manual's measurements when I made all of mine and one of the lines that goes across the rear axles ( I don't remember which one but think it was the right) was not long enough with their measurement.

Thanks for taking the time to draw that up and upload the picture, that is going above and beyond. Thumbs Up

I called Walcks today and asked about the line. They confirmed they bend that end at to 180 get it to fit in the box to reduce the cost of shipping. They said you have to bend it back out to a 90 prior to installation. You folks are very wise!

The drawing was nice work Tim, but you really didn't need to draw tread on the tire.  Big smile  Thumbs Up
