Spreading the word to Willys Wagon owners... My son Joseph has launched a Kickstarter Campaign for a limited run of LED tail lights for the '52-'63 Station Wagon.

This is part of Joseph's High School "Personal Project" that he is working on over the summer. He is going to build a 3-axis CNC machine, and plans to fund the project by selling his LED tail lights through Kickstarter. The LED tail light circuit boards will be manufactured with the CNC.
Joseph is hoping to sell 20-30 sets of the lights through Kickstarter.

Once Joseph has the CNC mill up and running, he will be able to make and sell bits and pieces to help fund his '51 Willys Wagon build. You can check out his Wagon project here, on OldWillysForum.com.

This is a 30 day campaign that ends on August 8th, so if you are on the fence about wanting a set of LED lights for your wagon, jump in and help Joseph reach his campaign goal!

Joseph has put together a "kit" for the lights, which includes a pair of the LED lights, mounting hardware, and waterproof plugs. The kit also comes with an additional LED bulb that replaces the stock reflector in the factory bezel. This supplemental bulb adds a nice punch to the brake/turn lights.
The LED circuit boards bolt onto the factory bezel in place of the stock bare bulb socket bracket. The supplemental bulb requires enlarging the hole in the bezel, as well as drilling a hole in the body behind the bulb.

Here is what the kit looks like assembled (bezel and lense not included in the kit)-

We've been busy testing and modifying the LED tail light design over the last 18 months. I have had a set of the lights in my daily driver wagon since December of 2013, and they are a nice improvement over the factory bare bulb no-reflector design. The LEDs are much brighter, and they light up the entire factory lens.
The circuit boards are fully coated with a waterproof urethane conformal coating and the lights meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for minimum and maximum brightness, but have not been tested for other FMVSS requirements such as vibration, and corrosion.

You can also help support Joseph's campaign by pledging $25 or more and get a cool T-shirt he designed for the project.

If you or anyone you know might interested in a set of LED tail lights for your wagon, sign up for them on the Kickstarter page!
