I've got one of these on my 48.  It's dented from where it stopped a tree.  The PO oversprayed it with red paint.  What is the best way to clean one up to repaint it the original color?  It looks like mine was black.

I'm thinking of sandblasting it with something soft, like walnut shells or baking soda.  Other ideas??

Just to bump it up, what is the best way to clean a Chaff Screen?
I just got an early  diamond one for my '45.

I will have to post some pics of mine. I see the radiator guards; I assumed when I read about it they meant actual metal brush guards. Maybe this is what they meant?

Here is the later 'square grid' style. I added some dimensions and specs for the inner and outer wire screens.

There is a formed sheet metal piece that attaches to the front crossmember with two sheet metal screws. This (I think) should have a welting on the upper surface where it meets the bottom of the chaff screen.

The formed cross member piece known as the brush guard is pictured in the image that started this particular topic back in 2006 and has 2-A Radiator $12.00 written with marker on it.

Yes there is horse hair between it and the grill

Another view without the radiator installed:

What were the 2 L brackets on the upper outside of the chaff screen used for? Just removal of the chaff screen?
