For that price you would expect it to come with the lawn mower attachment!

I think it's cute..
(Cat made me post this)
There have been alot of the "Baby boomers" that have made a ride for the "grand kids" in the flavor of their own projects. This looks like one of them.
$8500.00 ??
Someone will buy this just for their grandkids..

I had a guy (retired 'snowbird'.......rich one too, I'm assuming) down in Florida wake me up with a phone call earrrrrrrrrrly one Sunday morning wanting to by my little pedal car/wagon that some of you have seen at a Reunion or two.....He had seen a picture of it online ( I think on Sharek's old site) and just thought he had to have it....He talked for roughly 20-30 minutes trying to talk me into selling it.
He made me a standing offer of $1,000 for it.....and I dismissed him as some lunatic.
Guess he's not the only one out there.....(I'm kinda wondering if he's got kinfolk in Maine)
P.S.
The wagon just got a fresh paint job since I finally decided on the 'real' color I'm painting the 2A/pickup.....I had just painted it in basecoat before but if we make it to Jeff City this time it'll actually have clear with hardener in it this time....woo hooo!...............(and no, the 2A WON'T be there and painted this year either...although some parts of it have paint on them now) Edited by rocnroll - 20 July 2007 at 7:35pm |

But why not buy them a nice REAL 2A and have a little investment potential?

I wonder if it comes with a scaled down hand crank if I "Buy it Now"?
BTW- It is pretty cool, but I paid less for my 'full sized' model. Tim |

I saw this guy at the military show in Aberdean MD. a couple months ago.
These are pretty cool little go carts, they were driving around in them.
I don't think the price is right though...

Ever price a Gator or anything similar? They are expensive toys for certain, that a $500 junk Cherokee would do similar work to, but folks love 'em. Kinda like those Japanese pickup trucks in his ebay listing...Those things sell for $5000 and up in some places and compete with the small utility playtoys as well.
Problem is it looks kinda like a riding mower variant and it's too small to be usefull...it is JUST a toy.
He's aiming at the Paris Hilton types with too much money , I guess.

If it was 4wheel drive it would be pretty cool. but not worth the money they want for it. If you took the body and put it on a quad chassis you would end up with a better rig.

Whatever the case, there is a $5k bid on it right now.
Didn't powerwheels have jeep back in the 80's? Why not pick one of those up for $500 and get some practice doing body work? My guess is it would difficult to spend more than $1500 total replicating this, with the motor.

D.L. Bensinger used to carry the body kit, best I remember it was under $1,000.....then Four Wheel Drive Hardware carried it for awhile in their catalog, for a little over $1,000 best I remember.
Neither place shows it in their inventory now......I'm just wondering if this guy maybe 'made a deal' and has sole ownership or distributor rights to the 'little fellers'............just something to make you go hmmmmmmm.

Roc, a friend of mine bought an go-cart at a garage sale that Maytag produced. It was missing a wheel or something like that...another buddy recognized the wheels were the same as the ones on one of the maintenance carts he was currently using at Maytag. Apparently some of the extra wheels ended up being used up for similar task. One hot wheel coming up.
He restored the car and not too long after got a call from a guy in Phoenix Az. Said guy owned a large string of Maytag Laundromats...had to have the pedal car. Friend was more attached to the car and didn't need the cash so he refused the $5000 final offer of the phone call. Guy called back a year later and the offer went up, Friend refused again. The year after that, the offer went up considerably...something to do with rich dudes 50th year in business...whatever. Friend sold it to him for the tune of $25,000. I think he had a couple hundred in it. Moral of the story: Fools and their money soon part? maybe? If you're hung like a horse, you don't need a BMW to pick up chicks? Whoops, wrong story. All you need is one buyer? ...I spose so. This story might have been better without morals...LOL Edit: found a link to some info...fairly rare bird, but still $25,000? http://www.maytagclub.com/page-34.htm Edited by Doug - 24 July 2007 at 7:54am |

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,
shouting "...holy cow, what a ride!" |
