I'm doing the first service of a rebuilt L-134 on my 1947 CJ-2a restoration; the oil filter case on my engine is the type that has the mounting flanges made onto the oil filter case. The exploded diagram on the CJ-2A PARTS LIST page shows 3 types of oil filters. Mine is referemced as 643147. Does any know the correct oil filter element to use with this particular tyoe of oil filter ? Does anyone know what type of oil filter was installed in the factory? Many thanks in advance. David

Low is right, there were two versions of the Fram filters with the brackets spot welded to the case, a large and a small one. If my memory serves me, the small C-3 may be Wix # 51010, 3.72 OD and 4.375 high cartridge, and the c-4 is a Wix 51006 that is 4.1" OD and 5" high. This c-4 will fit the large orange fram filter housings and the early military carryovers. Daniel

I have the oil fliter that the brackets are welded to the case on the sides and it doesn't wrap around the filter but I don't know what sizes the filter is but the Napa number is a Napa Gold 1010 I have used them serveral times and they fit good.

Not meaning to run over a flat cat, but the first time I needed a filter I popped the top of the canister and measured the ID of the can. Thinking it would be difficult to find a filter, I asked the NAPA counterman if he had a filter for an L134. He said it would either be a NAPA Gold 1010 or a Gold 1006 without even checking the books. I gave him the ID of the can, and he gave me a Gold 1010 filter.
From Daniel's post, I assume the Gold 1010 is a C3 (Wix# 51010) and the Gold 1006 is a C4 (Wix# 51006).
Just wish getting all parts for the jeep were this simple.

I agree Frank, I saw the application listing for these filters somewhere, and the list of the applications that either filter number fits is astounding, they were used in so many cars, trucks, forklifts or tractors from the 40's on up.
