Russ would have to confirm this, but I think that the forum software has been updated to fix a critical security flaw that WebWiz found was being exploited (not necessarily on this forum, but somewhere among their customers). I saw a bulletin announcing that a few days ago. My guess is that 64 by 64 pixels is the default size for the avatar images and that WebWiz, who hosts the the forum for Russ updated the software, but Russ has not had time to customize all the settings that he tweaks for this instance of the software. So, the short answer is, I think so!
