I bought my second 47 CJ2A with a Solex carb on it. It appeared to be new.
Ran poorly. I didn't bother with it.Found a Carter WO on Ebay and a rebuild kit.
Runs great.

Purchased my 48 cj2a three months ago. Came with the Carter WO. Needed to be rebuilt. Purchased a Solex carb and installed right out of the box. No adjustments needed. Has run strong ever since and haven't looked back...so far!Smile

I recently put a Solex carburetor and Holley fuel pressure regulator on my 47.  All I had to do was adjust the idle and it runs great.   Paid $145 total.

I had a Solex on my 3B when I picked it up, it was really bad. I picked up a Carter from Scoutpilot and it's been awesome.

If you want a Solex, I have one that’s like new that I would sell for $50.00 plus shipping. BW

I bought a Solex new in 2000.  It worked great even without a fuel pressure regulator for many years but 6 or 8 years ago it just stopped working well.  I added a regulator but it still wouldn't work right.  When it did work, Ol' Unreliable was noticeably peppier than with the Carter that was on it originally.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

I purchased one new from Kaiser Willys and it ran great right out of the box with no adjustment needed. I was very impressed.

I bought a Solex 15 years ago for my 43 GPW.  It worked great.  No problems whatsoever.
On my 48 I also bought a Solex, the fuel enrichment valve never worked.  I would spend up to 20 minutes getting it to start and stay running on cold mornings.  Once warmed up, it worked just fine.
I recently bought a WO from Scoutpilot.  My Jeep starts immediately when it is cold and runs strong all the time.  I couldn’t be happier with Scoutpilots work!  He is the best on these old carbs!

I had a solex, ran great then i had problems which i blamed the solex but was a broken valve spring in the final analysis.
Two jeeps on the road, one is close and the rest are dreams.
