I have watched every Rocker Knocker video on YouTube including the JK one. I did not care for the rude/obnoxious comments directed towards Melissa. That is why I asked her to spot me on RK. That being said, I pretty much knew what to do after seeing it once already.

What a trip!  I hope to check out Moab for the first time next May with Steve 3A.  We won't be as adventurous jeep-wise as you two!  It looks like wonderful country.

Thanks for posting the videos of Pritchett 2.0. You both passed your sophomore year!  Took two years to do that with the Rubicon and only two months with Pritchett! What trail is next on your list?

Was your trail escort the same folks that caught up with us at Rocker Knocker back in September?

Did you come back down Pritchett or take the 2-hour, bumpy, and dusty road back to civilization?

As far as traction in Moab, I would not think it would change too much between a 40 degree day and a 90 degree day, but maybe it does. Pritchett or some slick rock on Hell’s Revenge would be good testing grounds to find out. The steepness and difficulty of the Pritchett obstacles require incredible traction for any of our short wheelbase rigs to have a chance at climbing them. Those obstacles placed anywhere else I have wheeled (so far) would be winched, bypassed, or have to be assaulted with lots of “skinny pedal”.

How about you come out and show us how to run Rusty Nail?

We took the long bumpy road out. We asked the Moab Friends for Wheelin’ about a different route out. The said you could go down Hunter Canyon and save some miles but not really any time.
I don’t think I’m man enough to drive DOWN those trails we came up.

Yes, at least part of the folks we were with were in the group that passed us in September. One notable addition this time was Rory Irish from Moab Motorsports and his wild trail recovery wrecker, Trail Mater.

Here’s a pic of Rory and Trail Mater getting ready to tug me up the bottom of Chewy Hill that I struggled with this time.

For whatever reason, I felt like we had less traction.

Rusty Nail is definitely on the list. If Stan and I can get that one under our belt we will have done all of the 8 and 9 rated trails on the RR4W list:

Pritchett Canyon 9
Cliffhanger 8
Hell's Revenge (Escalator) 8

Rusty Nail is the only one left so anyone going to EJS next spring should plan on that one.... of course the RR4W requires 35" tires for an 8 rated trail and 37" for Pritchett so maybe we shouldn't attempt them

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EglRD3i3B4s&feature=youtu.be

Also thinking the entire Helldorado trail .... maybe High Dive?

I would enjoy running Rusty Nail with you guys! Other than a couple obstacles that are nearly back to back it does not offer the adrenaline flow that Pritchett does, but still a really cool trail.

Trail Mater looks like quite the rig...especially in the video of Yellow Hill. I would not really know what to think though if I asked somebody to lead me through a trail and they bring a wildly modified wrecker. I would be concerned to say the least.

Tires, or more specifically tire compound, can make temperature have a huge effect on traction.  Up here in the "Bold North" (Minnesota's theme for last year's SuperBowl) a lot of people get dedicated winter tires, like Blizzak.  They get way better traction on cold pavement and ice, but wear out very quickly if you use them in the summer.  It wouldn't surprise me if the... er, "less modern" tires you and Stan run have a rubber compound that hardens up quicker in low temps than the more modern tires Brian runs.

Dee McNeeny from Moab Friends for Wheelin’ sent me a bunch of pics that she took. I’ve picked out a few of my favorites.

Two best friends, Bam Bam and Grampa’s Jeep, taking a little break on the trail. I like how Dee made the landscape look vintage to match the jeeps with the black and white.

After a few of these sliding sudeways experiences on Chewy Hill and I decided to call it off and take a line.

Here’s Jeff taking a video of me getting a tire in the air on Axle Hill.

Son of Rock Pile is an obstacle that I have yet to conquer. This pic looks like I’m close.

Agreed Rick!

That's quite the wrecker.  Trying to design a rear suspension that can support the boom load AND have the flex & range for those rocks must be a tough engineering challenge.

Here’s a couple of vids of Rory and his wrecker in action. Both are on Hell’s Gate.

Here is Rory on Escalator, forward and backwards:

He obviously runs much better without the duals, but then he needs them for recovery. He took a winch line on the first half of Chewy Hill when he was with us.

Here's another little video from this trip. In this one there is a little humorous interlude where Grampa's Jeep demonstrates one of his weaknesses, the low belly.

That looked fun!

Having had the honor of riding in Grampa's jeep myself, I don't think there are any weaknesses.  Most every Earthly creature enjoys a belly rub.
