Not my jeep but an example of one of my jeeping issues….

I just picked up this Bantam 1946 for $175! It needs some work, but is a great start. I will be rebuilding/ restoring it. I do not think it will be restored as “period correct”, sorry. I will be making it work as best I can for my needs and budget.

Got the rusty old floor out and discovered one more floor, and it was more rusty than the first. Jr worked hard and earned his dinner today. The boy loves this old thing.

There is a decal covered in paint on the side it looks like it has a bell in the center with a round border.

Re-welded the broken front top rail corners.

Cut out the rear cross member and replaced it. The rest of the frame has surface rust but is still good.

I will be looking to replace the springs.

I need to rework this.

Thanks, I was wondering if people would flame me for not restoring it period correct.  I started reading all the great Bantam posts 2 weeks ago and figured I should post up what I was doing.  It had some real problems, and I will be using it hard for a long time so some upgrades were needed.  I am trying to get it together before my hunting season starts, so I got 2 more weeks.  I started the build Friday night.

On jeeps unlimited and jeep forum, I go by Ziptie and I do make Flatty Fenders.  The green jeep is my buddy WAC’s, my jeep is the blue TJ-6 (98 TJ stretched 15” to a LJ tub w/ TJ rear overhang).

Thanks, This seems like a great forum. I figured I needed something cool to pull behind my TJ-6 project.

That is a huge bull Elk, the picture is simply awesome.  Nice job on the trailer rebuild, I wish I had as much talent with a welder.  Then again I just might before I finish restoring mine  Big smile
