Out of interest, when and where is the reunion? If it’s on my route from MA to DC, I’d love to attend if possible.

That lineup of spare Jeeps you have seems to include one of the rarest of all Jeeps: the CJ-V35/,  that one on the far end of your line with the strange headlight rings.  There were only 1,000 of them made, and they were a predecessor to the M-38.  They are HIGHLY collectible.  Look them up and examine yours closely to see if it's that or "just" a CJ-3A.  You can start looking here:

Personally, I've always wanted an MB but I've never been able to make the combination of time, money, and space.

Frame, windshield and passenger fender look like CJ2A.  Those do look like CJ V35 headlight bezels.

You have a Hawk's eyes, Tim!  I can see the headlight bezels but those other details are out of reach for my eyes from here.  Smile

Thanks for the heads up!  I love having knowledgeable people keep an eye out!  The tan jeep on the far end is a CJ2A #90729.  All 3 tags are intact and match.  The headlight bezels are large but don't look like the ones on the link you included.  Darn - I was getting all excited!  I do have what is titled as a 1945 MB in the basement.  I remember that there is no glove box but the dash in that area had round cutouts - radio controls?  It is covered up with decades of basement stuff.  I will post pictures when I get it dug out.

Yeah, after closer inspection of the pics on the V35 sites, those headlight bezels aren't what I thought they were, so I'm sorry if I got your hopes up for a V35.  However, now you know about the V35 so maybe you'll find one in the wild some day.

Hi masscj2a!  Thanks!  Definitely a wealth of information and great folks sharing it.  Looks like Massachusetts is will represented here!  Iv'e been spending a lot of time evaluating what I have to work with.  Realized that one of the parts Jeeps is sporting 3 combat rims.  If I can scare up 1 or 2 more they would work nicely on the MB in the basement!

Yeh Barry, there are a few of us up here in the rust belt that love these old Jeep's. A few (not me) that have a real problem with buying, storing, collecting, building, oh well, hoarding old Jeep's. Thank goodness, I'm not afflicted with that creepy problem. Did I mention I'm heading to Pay. Oh. Border on Monday to pick up a 67 CJ6. Tongue

Glad I'm not afflicted with that problem either. (Much!!Wink)  Nice find on the CJ6!  I'm in Madison, OH not too far from the PA line.  If there were any restaurants open I'd want to meet up for lunch. ("Stupid virus!" - Homer voice)  Have a safe trip!  Posts pics!

Sorry I haven't posted any progress in a couple weeks.  I've been preoccupied with getting the abbreviation glossary up.  My goal is to get the MB out of the basement and into the barn where I can work on it.  In order to make that move I have to first make about a dozen other moves to make room. (Am I the only one with that problem?!)  So there is a 4 wheeler in the way that has been sitting on flat tires for years.  I thought I'd just throw a couple of tubes in and be good - right?  Nooo, The PO used some kind of bomb proof leak sealer and I could NOT break the beads.  I even tried the bottle jack under the truck trick - no dice.  I gave up and figured I'd take them to the tire place and went on to the next move which was to transfer a pallet of fire wood up to the house with the forks on the tractor.
As I'm doing that a light bulb went off in my head - I've got all these hydraulics to play with! Duh!!
So here is my improvised tire machine.  Works like a champ!

As a result of this I also figured out the definition of FI (moment) and will update the glossary shortly.

So.. I have finally made some progress.  I've been trying to collect parts for the dream jeep build.  I found a very late production SM420 and grabbed it.  Not sure if I'll use it yet but I've got it.  I've also been searching for the ultra rare 70 1/2 - 71 offset diff flanged D44 rear axle.  Found a couple at $500 (ouch) plus I still to piece together the rest of the drive train including an engine.  Then I stumbled across this gem.  A complete 1971 CJ5 with the 225 Dauntless! $1000 and it followed me home.  It has the rear end I wanted, plus it should have the big hole D18 TC with the 1 1/4 intermediate shaft.  Perfect to upgrade to tera lows later.  I definitely wanted a v6  and was leaning toward the Chevy 4.3 but I think I will be very happy with this Dauntless.  I still want a granny 4 speed so I guess the choices will be the SM420 I already have or find a SM465 or T18. Anyway, all that should fit nicely into one of the CJ2A's in my parts jeep fleet.  I would also really like to find a solid CJ3A  or M38 frame to work with.

A few more pics of the drive train donor Jeep.

As I understand it the standard diff ratio for this year was 3.73:1 but 4.27s were an option.  It was raining hard when I got it home so I didn't do the wheel spin test to find out which it is.  That will be the first thing I do tomorrow after I get it off the trailer.  Hoping for 4.27s - fingers crossed!
