I removed the clutch and brake pedal arms that attach to the frame for cleaning, inspection, and paint.  The brake arm has noticeable curve to it, is that how it's supposed to be?  It seems like heavy iron so bending it from normal use seems unlikely, but possible I guess.  The clutch rod was bent so I ordered a new one of those.  I'm also replacing the two bell cranks that the clutch and brake arms rotate on.
Do I need a new brake arm too or is that curve factory?

Mine has about a 45 degree bend in it.   It's normal.  On the bell cranks, there are springs and spacers that go in the end of those to take the play out of them.   I learned the hard way that you need those in there.....   One side of mine had the spring but not the spacer.   A few months in I broke the clutch linkage from bellcrank to bellcrank.

Thanks for the reply.  I ordered the spring kit as well.

I'm actually referring to the long lever/arm that's attached to the bell crank under the floor, not the pedal itself.  I can post a photo of it tonight if that helps.

ooooooo.   Yeah i dont think that should be bent.   Theres a 45 offset at one end.   But straight throughout.

Did it align up with the hole in the floor board?  I had to bend mine for adjustment so the pedal rod wouldn't drag on the edge of the hole.

My brake and clutch pedal lined up pretty well.  Accelerator linkage however did not.   I had to make the hole a little longer to fit it right.

I would leave it as is unless it had excessive side play on the shaft. In that case if needed I would bore the brake arm and re bush or replace it.   If the shaft is worn causing slop replace it.   This is a  place on our jeeps that gets over looked when when lubricating them.

Thanks for the replies guys.  This jeep was sitting for decades when I got it and I am still in the breakdown and replace/restore phase.  Both arms were frozen on the bell crank when I started.  The pedals came through the floor in a seemingly normal fashion, but I never operated them since the arms were frozen, the brake system was gone, and the clutch was not hooked up.

I'll post a photo when I get home from work.

The brake and clutch arm in fact have bends.  They won't align with the holes in the floor board without the bends.

The reproductions have a slight bend, but you will have to bend them more to match your floorboard holes.  I had to use an oxi/ acetylene torch to bend them.  WeeWilly offers a good option to replacing sloppy arms...install a bushing in your originals and machine them to fit snug on the pivot.

Sounds like my originals are as they should be?  Here's the brake arm - hard to get a good shot but I think you can see the curve in it.
